KANSAS AT SOUTH FLORIDA

Kansas +4 over South Florida - Two squads in off great years and expecting big things to continue. Kansas outscored Florida International and La Tech by a combined score of 69-10 while South Florida whipped Tennessee Martin but needed overtime to get by Central Florida. Both teams have had over 500 yards of total offense in each of their two games but not sure what we can learn from that based on the strength of their opponents.

Both teams return plenty of starters from a year ago with South Florida returning 10 on offense and 7 on defense and Kansas returning 9 on defense and 6 on offense while both return star QB's. Taking a look back to last year, you have some very similar results with South Florida knocking off Auburn and West Virginia and Kansas going 11-1 knocking off all the usual suspects in the Big 12 and losing in the title game to Mizu.

While both offenses are certainly able to light it up, defense may take center stage here this week. Kansas had a very good stop unit a year ago with a yards per point number of 19 and kept just about everyone at bay with the exception of Missouri. South Florida meanwhile not too shabby either on the defensive side of things and these two hooked up in 2006 with Kansas squeaking by 13-7. No total has been posted as of this writing but when it is posted, it figures to be fairly high. Under may be worth a look here.

As far as the side in this game, we'll lean towards Kansas. These two appear to be fairly evenly matched. So the number on this game is probably correct after accounting for the South Florida Home field. It's just a lean, nothing strong, but we wouldn't be surprised with either team winning so we'll take +3.5 with Kansas and hope the points are a bonus and we'll also lean towards the under.

Should be a great game to watch either way with two coaches who have each done a fantastic job with their programs. Kansas +4 (Free half point at Skybook)
