It started with 64 of the best teams in college basketball and now we are down to the four left standing.  

This year’s NCAA tournament hasn’t been full of upsets or Cinderella stories like in years past with teams like Davidson and George Mason pulling off huge upsets. No this time around it has pretty much been the elite teams of the regular season living up to their hype and reaching the Final Four. 

The Final Four might not have all four number one seeds like it did last year, which was amazing, but this year’s Final Four teams are without a doubt the cream of the crop! 

A lot of people believed that Pittsburgh and Louisville would be in the Final Four and quite possibly National champs, matter of fact so did I, but that wasn’t the case as Pitt struggled all through the tournament and the Cardinals just couldn’t handle a Michigan State Spartans team seemingly on a mission. 

Although getting to the Final Four is no easy task even for the best teams in the country, North Carolina and UConn definitely had an easier road to Detroit than Villanova and Michigan State.  

The Wildcats had to get through extremely tough teams like UCLA, Duke and Pitt. All of which were legit contenders to make to at least the Elite Eight. Michigan State on the other hand had an even tougher path to the Final Four playing against USC, the defending champion Kansas Jayhawks and Rick Pitino’s Louisville Cardinals. Now that is one hell of a schedule!  

It won’t get any easier for the Villanova Wildcats in the Final Four as they go up against Tyler Hansbrough and the North Carolina Tar Heels who will be without a doubt their toughest competition yet!  

Not only are the Tar Heels coming off a relatively easy win over Blake Griffin’s Oklahoma beating them convincingly by 12, but they have just destroyed every single team so far in this tournament beating every team they have faced by 12 or more points. 

Villanova has also been knocking off some tough teams convincingly with their biggest victory coming against another ACC opponent in Duke who they beat by 23 points in the Sweet 16. The Wildcats did have trouble putting away Pitt though only beating the Panthers with a last second shot to advance to the Final Four. 

It will be a hard fought battle between these two elite teams with a good possibility of an upset, but in the end I think the Tar Heels will be too much for the Wildcats to handle.  

Right now the spread is at -7 in favor of North Carolina. Although the Tar Heels have easily covered this kind of spread in all their tournament games so far, they will not cover here. Take Villanova + the points.
