Michigan at Michigan State Could Be a Shootout

This Michigan Wolverine team has been one of the biggest surprises of this
college football season. After struggling in Coach Rich Rodriguez’s first year
as head coach everyone figured it would take time for Coach Rodriguez to recruit
the right players to run his spread offense. Luckily for Michigan fans it didn’t
take long. The Wolverines are off to a 4-0 start including an upset victory over
Notre Dame, and are looking to keep the momentum going against their instate
rival Michigan State. Michigan State has had a little more trouble with through
their first few games. The Spartans are just 1-3 on the year with their lone win
coming against Montana State, but this Michigan State football team is much
better than their 1-3 record suggests and I expect this to be a very good
ballgame.
MICHIGAN’S KEY TO VICTORY
The biggest key to this Wolverine team and their success is true freshman QB
Tate Forcier. He is the perfect QB for Coach Rodriguez’s spread offense, and he
has handled all the pressure like a Senior QB would. Forcier did injure his
shoulder against Indiana, but it looks like he is going to be close to 100%
which is very good news for Michigan. If Tate Forcier keeps playing like he has
been and Michigan can get their running game going with RB Carlos Brown then
they should have no problems putting up points over this Michigan State defense.
The Michigan defense has been decent, but not great. They are undersized and
came up with big stops against Notre Dame earlier in the year. It will be up to
them to shut down the Spartans rushing and pass attack.
MICHIGAN STATE’S KEY TO VICTORY
Much like Michigan’s key to victory is Tate Forcier Michigan State’s key to
victory is also Tate Forcier except their key to victory is to stop Tate Forcier.
Indiana was able to get to QB Tate Forcier early in the game and give him
trouble. They even knocked him out for part of the game. It was pretty obvious
when he was out of the game that this Michigan offense depends on Tate Forcier
to lead it. If this Michigan State defense is able to get Tate Forcier early in
the game and throw him off his rhythm Michigan State is more than capable of
pulling the upset. They must establish the run early, something that hasn’t been
going well for them since losing NCAA leading rusher Javon Ringer to the NFL
Draft last year. This Spartans team desperately needs a win, and what better way
to do that than against their in state rival? They are going to bring their best
football game.
THE FINAL VERDICT
Both of these teams can put points on the board while at the same time, both
have been giving up buckets of points as well. The difference between States 1-3
and Michigan's 4-0 is actually only a few points. Michigan win a couple of close
games that it was damn lucky to win while State lost a couple of heartbreakers
in the closing seconds. Tome for the tables to turn. Michigan State wins this
won, barely. Watch this line. We'll hope it comes back down to at least -3,
otherwise we'll buy the half here. Michigan State -3
