Argentina vs. Korea Republic

France vs. Mexico

Greece vs. Nigeria

6/17/10

Thursday World Cup action has France taking on Mexico, Greece vs. Nigeria and Argentina vs. Korea Republic. We’ve got two 1/2 unit plays and one full unit play so let’s get right to it. Our full unit plays is going to be on Argentina -1 over South Korea. We’ve talked about Brazil and Spain being the co-favorites to win the Cup, well, Argentina would be among the top 3 or 4 teams as well, with a very realistic chance at winning it all. We once again have a huge talent gap in these two teams and a price that has some value we feel.

So far there’s only been one Game that got out of hand on the scoreboard and that was Germany’s 4-0 win over Australia. On the scoreboard is the key phrase here, because there have been several one sided Games in terms of one team outplaying the other. One such Game was Argentina and their 1-0 win over Nigeria. Argentina had several chances they simply were not able to capitalize on. So far just about every Game in the 2010 World Cup has been a tie or a 1 goal Game. Sooner or later we’re going to see one of these superior teams break through on the scoreboard and this spot for Argentina is as good a spot as any you’ll find. South Korea is outclassed here.

You can lay 1 goal with Argentina at a price of -105 or better which is the way we will play this one. Argentina -1 for 1 Unit.

In the other two Games on Thursday we are going to play both Games under the total for a half unit. Thus far only two Games have seen more than 2 goals scored, those Games were Germany’s big 4-0 and Brazil winning 2-1 over North Korea. Of all the teams in the Tournament, the remaining 4 teams in action Thursday are among those least likely to put big numbers on the board. Both France and Mexico are defensive minded teams and both are under immense pressure after starting off with ties in their first Games.

Likewise with Nigeria and Greece. Greece is perhaps the most boring team to watch in the entire Tournament. They are strictly a defensive team, while Nigeria simply doesn’t have the guns to play an attacking style. We’re very content taking the under in both of these Games, France/Mexico and Nigeria/Greece.

So Our Thursday card breaks down like this.

Argentina -1 -105 over South Korea 1 Unit

Greece/Nigeria under 2 -125 1/2 unit

France/Mexico under 2 -120 1/2 unit
