The surprising Eagles play host to the Redskins in an important division
game. Washington quarterback Donavan McNabb returns to the city of brotherly
love for the first time on the other side of the field. The Eagles are 2-1 and
looked pretty impressive in dismantling the Jaguars last week 28-3. New starting
quarterback Michael Vick had a great game, running for 30 yards and tossing
three touchdown passes. Vick is completing 60 percent of his passes this year, a
career high. Running back LeSean McCoy has been very good in the first three
games gaining 209 yards and averaging 6 yards a carry.

Vick hit wide receiver
DeSean Jackson on a 61 yard score against the Jags, and connected four times
with Jeremy Maclin for 83 yards. Defensive end Trent Cole had a monster game
with 8 tackles and 2 sacks. Defensive tackle Trevor Law collected 6 tackles and
a sack.
The Redskins limp to Philadelphia after surprising the Cowboys in week 1 and
then blowing a 17 point lead in week 2 against the Texans. They probably figured
they would have no problems with the lowly Rams who hadn't won a game. Wrong,
the Rams and rookie quarterback Sam Bradford surprised the Skins 30-16.
The Skins need to regroup but on the road in Philadelphia? Returning hero
Donavon McNabb will undoubtedly be fired up to face his old teammates. McNabb is
completing 60 percent of his passes and has thrown a couple of touchdowns.
Running back Clinton Portis has gained 140 yards on the ground this year. Wide
receiver Santana Ross had another great game against the Rams catching six balls
and for the season has lassoed 22 for 290 yards and a touchdown. Cornerback
Deangelo Hall played well in the loss with seven tackles as did inside
linebacker Rocky McIntosh. The Rams were still able to run on the Redskins quite
easily. Eagles running back LeSean Jackson should find some big holes and should
gain 100 yards in the game.
The emotion will be running high in this game. The Eagle fans will be on McNabb
like a cop in a donut house. Donavon has to find his rhythm and put up some
points for the Skins to have a realistic chance of winning. But as stated the
Redskins run defense is not that good, they have to tackle better and hit the
gaps. The Eagles are starting to play like a pretty good team. Michael Vick
should find success immediately.
The problem for the Redskins is their inability to put points on the board in
two out of their 3 games. We certainly can't trust them at this point. Remember
too, that the Redskins are a work in progress. Even Shanahan can't work miracles
overnight. Look for the Eagles to spoil Mcnabb's homecoming.
