Big 10 Tournament Betting Preview with Current Odds and Analysis

3/10/11

Last  year’s Big Ten Tournament was won by Ohio State. Before them it was taken by Purdue and before that it was Wisconsin. All 3 have a chance to add another trophy to their collection this year when the Big Ten Tournament is contested at Canseco Field House in Indianapolis, IN on March 10-13.

Ohio State Buckeyes (28-2, 15-2)- The nation’s top team has only lost to Wisconsin and Purdue this year. Both teams were determined to fire their best shot against the Bucks. Ohio State previously beat Purdue and will get another crack at Wisconsin before this Tournament. Some of their quality wins came against Florida, Florida State and Minnesota. The trio of Jared Sullinger, William Buford and David Lighty is one of the most intimidating in the country. Sullinger is a great scorer at 17.1 PPG and a formidable rebounder with 9.8 RPG. He’s got 15 double-doubles this year. Obviously as the #1 team in the land they wont be easy to topple in the Big Ten Tournament.

Purdue Boilermakers (25-5, 14-3)- Can you imagine what this team would be like if Robbie Hummel hadn’t got hurt? It would be jaw dropping. Without him they are the #6 team in the country. Purdue has wins against Virginia Tech, Alabama, Ohio State and Wisconsin. The duo of JaJuan Johnson and E’Twuan Moore lead the team. Johnson gets 20.5 PPG and 8 RPG. He dropped 29 on Minnesota. Moore picks up 18.5 PPG and 5.3 RPG. He had 38 points against the Buckeyes. The Boilermakers have a 7 Game winning streak at the time of this writing and they are as confident as any team in the country.

Wisconsin Badgers (22-6, 12-4) This team is led by senior F Jon Leuer who scores 19.3 PPG and grabs 7.4 RPG. He scored 24 points and got 13 rebounds against Purdue. He was ineffective against Ohio State, but that was OK because Jordan Taylor scored 27. Taylor, a junior, averages 17.8 PPG and 5 APG. The Badgers have always been a strong defensive team and they will give team their foes fits by playing strong on that side of the ball. If they can do that and get shots to fall winning the Big Ten Tournament is a big possibility.

Michigan State Spartans
(17-12, 9-8) Wow, this team has really fallen. The Spartans have to perform well and probably win this thing to go to the Dance. They have good players in Kailin LUcas and Draymond Green. This is a desperate team and that makes them dangerous.
