The Big East Tournament will be played at Madison Square Garden from March 8-12. The great thing about this conference is that it runs deep on talent. The bad thing about this conference is that it runs deep on talent. That is because you can get a good team at a price, but there are literally many teams that can spoil your chance at cashing a ticket.
Pittsburgh (25-4, 13-3) is the likely favorite to win the Big East Tournament. The balanced Panthers team is led by G Ashton Gibbs (16.3 PPG, 46.1 3PT%) who is getting back in the mix of things after missing 3 games because of injury. This team is ranked #5 in the country for good reason. They have wins over Maryland, Texas, UCONN, Georgetown, Syracuse and Villanova. It should be noted that their 68-66 win over Texas came at Madison Square Garden.
Notre Dame (24-5, 13-4) has won 10 of their last 11 games including a win over Pittsburgh, Louisville and a 93-72 whipping of Villanova. This is a team that lives by the three point shot. They hit a staggering 20 three pointers against ‘Nova. They will live or die with the play of G Ben Hansborough (18.4 PPG, 4.2 APG) and F Tim Abromaitis (15.4 PPG, 6.2 RPG).

Although not one of the top 2 teams in the conference, St Johns (19-9, 11-3) must be respected. The Red Storm are doing big things under coach Lavine and they own wins over Georgetown, UCONN, Duke, Pittsburgh and Villanova. They made the Duke Blue Devils look silly when they beat them 93-78. They dominated the entire game and that is NOT easy to do against Duke. This is a dangerous and hungry team.
The Cincinnati Bearcats (22-7, 9-7) are a sleeper team. They play the best defense in the league and have been getting hot near the end of the year. They beat Louisville in Georgetown handily to prove they are for real. F Yancy Gates could be the key for them. When he plays well the team tends to win. One of the downsides of this Mick Cronin coached team is that they struggle to make shots at time. Defense will keep them in games, but they have to score.
The Louisville Cardinals ( 22-7, 11-5) and Syracuse Orange (24-6, 11-6) both have to be considered as stalwarts of the conference. The Rick Pitino coached Cardinals beat Pittsburgh in overtime and have answered the bell nearly every time this year. They have two wins over UCONN as well as a win against Syracuse. Jim Boeheim’s Orange team has struggled a bit in the latter half of the year, but they do have wins over Notre Dame, Georgetown, Villanova and St. John’s.
This will be a great tournament to find live underdogs to bet. It's a tournament that literally any team can win. The Big East has 8 teams in the top 20!
