Oklahoma vs. Florida State Betting Preview

Florida State hosts Oklahoma in primetime at 8pm est. in one of the Marquee games of the weekend. The Sooners are currently -3 point road favorites while the Seminoles are likely chompin at the bit to tee this one up as they get a shot to avenge their worst defeat from a year ago, a 47-17 blowout at the hands of the Sooners.
Not unlike many early season games, we have very little to go on when handicapping this game, using this years results. Oklahoma has played just once, a 47-14 win over Tulsa and while Tulsa was 10-3 a year ago, when they stepped up in class to play Oklahoma State last year, they were hammered. Meanwhile, the Seminoles blew out La Monroe and Charleston Southern in their first two games.
Both teams return a healthy numbers of players from last years squads with the biggest difference being the return of Landry Jones at QB for the Sooners. Edge to the Sooners there.
But you can still make the argument that the revenge angle may just work here for Florida State. The Oklahoma game was their worst defeat. The other 3 losses were close games and they took out Miami Florida, Clemson, Florida and South Carolina along the way.
The Sooners had plenty of close calls last year against teams of equal or lesser talent than Florida State. They beat Air Force by just 3, Cincinnati by 2, Texas by 8. They lost to Missouri and Texas AM and finished with a 6 point win over Oklahoma State and a 3 point win over Nebraska. We have a hard time believing that last years score between these two is indicative of the talent gap between these two programs.
National TV, Saturday Night, chance to revenge worst defeat of a year ago. We'll bite. We'd prefer the hook on this one but as of right now that's not available without laying -120. So, watch the board. We'll put it out at Florida State +3.5 -120 but laying the -120 may not be necessary.
