Temple vs. Ohio University Football Pick with Analysis

Our mid week football tour through the MAC conference continues with a Wednesday night affair between two 5-3 teams, Temple and Ohio U. Ohio U is the host and also a +4 point home dog with a posted total of 45.5 points. These two teams are in the MAC East where Temple sits on top at 3-2 with Ohio right on their tails at 2-2.
Temple is starting to turn into a Jekyll and Hyde type team. They started the year 3-1 with 3 impressive wins and just a 4 point loss to Penn State. Then they upset Maryland, 38-7 only to get whipped by Toledo the following week. Then two blowout shutouts in a row, followed by a lackluster 13-10 loss to Bowling Green. They haven't played two consecutive bad games in a row, so perhaps Wednesday night will be an uptick.
Both of these teams rank well nationally with Temple having the #2 ranked defense in points allowed and Ohio U ranking high on both sides of the ball. But we won't mistake Ohio U for a top 20 team any time soon. Their schedule strength is among the weakest in the entire nation. They appear to us to be simply an average MAC team whereas Temple looks like the class of the MAC East division and should get another crack at Toledo in the MAC title game.
Our model has Temple by a score of 24-10 and that margin is supported by several other methods we like to use. Temple is a proven contender. Ohio U looks to be a classic pretender. Temple -4 with a lean towards under 45.5
