WEEK 1

BEST OF THE REST

9/8/13

We wrote up a few Games which appear on Our home page. Here are the rest, in a feature we call, the “Best of the Rest”.

Bucs -3 -115 over Jets  – The Jets are a mess and Ryan is a lame duck coach. The Bucs played some tight Games with some good teams a year ago and this would appear to be a Game between two teams headed in opposite directions. How about Darrelle Revis going up against his former team? Take the Bucs.

Jags +4 over Chiefs – Tough call here. Two desperate teams. The Chiefs would appear to have made the better off season moves with Andy Reid coming in and Alex Smith. Those are two keys to a successful team.. A good QB and a good coach. But Rome wasn’t built in a day. We’ll take a stab with the week 1 home dog. Jags +4

Browns pk over Dolphins – Both teams should improve. This call is based strictly on the Browns being home. The Browns beat the Fish in 2010 and 2011, by 2 and by 1. This will be 3 straight.

Panthers +3 over Seahawks   – Like Russell Wilson and also like this Seattle D. But the Seahawks started last season 1-5 on the road. So we’ll back Cam Newton and the home dog Panthers to pull the upset here. Just a mild call, but Panthers +3

Raiders +10 over Colts – The whole world is on the Colts in week 1. Have ACCess to any survivor pool stats? Betcha the most popular team this week in those pools is the Colts. Yeah, the Raiders are bad. But the Colts also benefited from the weakest Schedule in the league a year ago and will be hard pressed to repeat last years success. We certainly don’t love this play but still have to lean towards the big dog here to throw a scare into the Colts.

Rams -4.5 over Cards – Really like the Rams with coach Jeff Fisher and what he brings to the table. Took the Rams from 2-14 to 7-8-1. If that improvement is going to continue, home Games against the likes of the Cards are a must. Carson Palmer won’t be enough. Rams -4.5

Cowboys -3 over Giants – Tony Romo just signed the biggest contract in Cowboy history. The Boys missed the playoffs 3 years running. The pressure is on and it’s now time to deliver. Taking the home opener against the Giants isn’t a stretch. If they get the win, they likely get the cover. Giants also cone in limping. Cowboys -3
