AFC South

NFL Betting Preview

Odds and Predictions

Due to the Texans getting derailed in 2013, the Colts made easy work of the AFC South, winning the division by Four Games over the Titans with an 11-5 record. It’s no surprise that the Colts are decent sized favorites to win again, especially with the hands down best quarterback in the division.

The Indianapolis Colts already picked up some big early preseason injuries, but it’s unlikely they’ll be more beat up than they were last year. With Andrew LUck at the helm, he gets back Reggie Wayne, Dwayne Allen and Ahmad Bradshaw, and adds Hakeem Nicks. Not to mention, word out of camp is that Trent Richardson looks better now with an offseason under his belt with the team. While the defense may not be on the same level, and ultimately cost them in the playoffs, it’s hard to bet against the Colts in this division. LUck has shown plenty of times in his first two seasons that no matter the circumstaNCes, he can will this team to wins and that will be enough against these teams.

Despite finishing 2-14 last season, the Houston Texans are next in line to win the division. That’s mainly because last year was a bit of an anomaly for this team as they were extremely unlucky in almost every category. While Ryan Fitzpatrick probably isn’t the long-term answer at quarterback, he should be able to lead the team as Matt SChaub did in year’s past. A lot of the offense will depend on Arian Foster’s health, though. As a team, the Texans are led by their defense that now has stud Jadeveon Clowney, safety Chris Clemons and a hopefully healthy Brian Cushing. They have a chance to be a dominant defense, which means all the offense has to do is not give away Games. They’ll definitely pose a threat to the Colts despite the media already handing the division to Indy.

The Tennessee Titans have been in the same position for a while now and it’s hard to see them changing that up this season unless Jake Locker can stay healthy all season while improving. They have a solid core around Locker with guys like rookie Bishop Sankey, Kendall Wright and the reliable Nate Washington, but this group lacks consisteNCy. Not to mention Locker hasn’t played in more than 11 Games in any of his previous three seasons. The defense is definitely respectable, but the offense needs to give a little more for them to compete with teams like the Colts.

There’s not much to say about the Jacksonville Jaguars except that they should continue to improve with Blake Bortles eventually becoming their fraNChise quarterback. This isn’t their year though, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see them as a threat in 2015.

By having the best quarterback of any team by leaps and bounds, the Colts should oNCe again win the AFC South even with possibly the worst defense in the division. With more options this season, LUck is going to be trouble for anyone that he plays.
