Redskins

Eagles

Week 3

NFL Pick

9/21/14

The Philadelphia Eagles will host the Washington Redskins in an NFC East clash on Sunday in a Game that kicks off at 1pm est. The Eagles are 2-0 after two comeback wins in week 1 and 2 while the Redskins are 1-1, fresh of blowing out the Jags last week. The Game opened Philly -7 and now sits at -6.5 at sportsbook.ag with the betting percentages showing that the public is split 50/50 on this Game.

Hats off to Kirk Cousins for his fine performance last week when RG3 went down. I’ve always felt Cousins could be a starter for just about any team in this league. I liked the kid when he was at Michigan State and am rooting for him in the NFL. Eventually, he will be a #1 QB for an NFL team. It’s even possible he wins that job with his current team, the Redskins.

But let’s not get too carried away just yet. Last weeks Game was after all, against the Jags and the Skins did lose in week 1 to the Texans. This was a 3-13 team a year ago with plenty of problems that needed fixing. They face an Eagles team that was 1st in the division last year at 10-6 and was a playoff team, losing in the 1st round to the Saints.

When and if the Eagles can put together a full 60 minutes of football, they will be a lethal force and tough to beat. They’ve scored a grand total of 6 points in the first half this year and whatever the reason is for their slow starts, you know it will be addressed and fixed.

The Skins were near the bottom of the NFL last year on both sides of the ball and the feeling here is that it’s very unlikely they have improved that drastically in such a short time. They did in fact play the Eagles close twice last season but look for the Eagles to play well in BOTH halves in this one, making it likely that the Eagles not only get the win but also the cover. Eagles -6.5
