Tampa Bay Buccaneers

vs.

Arizona Cardinals

Week 2

NFL Pick

9/18/16

Tampa Bay went on the road in Week 1 to pick up a 31-24 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Now they will try to do the same as a -6.5-point underdog on the road at Arizona in Week 2.

Jameis Winston had an impressive rookie campaign a year ago, throwing for just over 4,400 yards, 22 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. Strong numbers; yet, he certainly left room for improvement. Winston got off to an even stronger start in 2016 in picking up an early key NFC South win. He threw for 281 yards and Four touchdowns while completing nearly 70 percent of his passes. Winston did throw an interception as well.

Mike Evans played in fine fashion as he begins his third year in the NFL. He continues to show his ability as a deep threat, with his size making him a big target. The 6-foot-5, 231-pound receiver caught five passes for 99 yards and a touchdown. Despite having 1,206 receiving yards a year ago, Evans only caught three touchdown passes. By comparison, in his rookie year Evans caught 12 touchdown passes. We know he’s going to put up big numbers, but if Evans can regularly return to the end zone like in his rookie season, you should expect big things from this Buccaneers’ offense.

There were not a lot of other big-play threats for Tampa Bay in the win. But Doug Martin provided just enough as a dual-threat option to give the Buccaneers more looks offensively. Martin finished the Game with 62 yards on 18 carries and another 34 yards on five receptions. A year ago he ran for 1,402 yards. As Winston grows up, Martin could aid the Buccaneers plenty by providing a puNCh out of the backfield.

Chandler Catanzaro missed a 47-yard potential go-ahead field goal as the Arizona Cardinals fell 23-21 to the Tom Brady-less New England Patriots in Week 1. Jimmy GAroppolo was the starter for New England. The Game was in Arizona. All signs pointed toward the Cardinals earning a Game 1 win. It just didn’t happen.

Carson Palmer is coming off of one the best seasons of his NFL career. He started things well in Week 1. Palmer threw for 271 yards and two touchdowns. He just didn’t have enough to knock off the Patriots.

LArry Fitzgerald was fantastic. Among his eight receptions and 81 yards, Fitzgerald caught both of Palmer’s touchdown passes. A year ago, Fitzgerald went for 1,215 yards and nine touchdowns. It’s fair to say he’s looking like he can do similar things in 2016.

Michael Floyd and David Johnson were also significant contributors in the Arizona offensive attack. Floyd caught three passes for 61 yards. Johnson ran the ball 16 times for 89 yards and a touchdown, while adding Four receptions for 43 yards.

Prediction: Going to Atlanta and winning is one thing. Going to Arizona is completely another. I know the Cards just lost on their home field to New England, but I don’t think it’s going to happen in back-to-back weeks. Cardinals -6.5
