New York Giants

vs.

Pittsburgh Steelers

By Jason Green

12/4/16

The Giants have won 6 straight Games and they are in the lead for the NFC Wild Card race, trailing the Cowboys by 2 Games in the NFC East, but are they really that good? In winning their last 6 Games they have only beaten 1 team in that span that currently has a winning record and that is the 6-5 Ravens. Still, they are on fire and one of the biggest reasons for the turnaround for the G-Men is their defense, which ranks 5th in the league in points allowed.

The Steelers are tied with the Ravens atop the AFC North and they have won their last 2 Games. This is after they had lost 4 straight. Big Ben has been solid on the season and the offense is a balanced one. While the Steelers defense is not as dominant as it was several years back that unit is playing well and ranks 10th in the NFL in points allowed. Something has got to give in this Game, as the Steelers are 3-2 at home and the Giants are 3-2 on the road.

In their last Game the Giants beat the woeful Cleveland Browns 27-13 and they covered the spread as a 6.5-point road favorite.

The Steelers won their last Game beating the Indianapolis Colts on the road 28-7 where they covered as an 8-point favorite.

The Giants did not light it up on offense in the win over the Browns, but they played great run defense and their own defense came up with 3 turnovers. Eli Manning has had a good, but not great, season and it helps to have one of the better WR duos in the NFL in Odell Beckham Jr. and Victor Cruz. Still, Manning has had to shoulder most of the load on offense since New York only ranks 31st in rushing yards per Game.

This match up is not a good one for the Steelers’ D, as they have been much better this season against the run (ranking 8th) than against the pass (ranking 22nd).

Big Ben has had another good season and he has stayed healthy for the most part. He has not thrown an INT in his last 3 Games and he has one of the best WR’s in the Game in Antonio Brown, who ranks 3rd in the league in receiving yards. Le’Veon Bell has also been a big help in the backfield and in his last 2 Games he has totaled 266 yards.

Bell will be facing a solid New York run defense that ranks 5th against the run, but Big Ben will be facing their pass defense, which only ranks 23rd against the pass.

NY is 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 Games, 0-6-2 ATS in their last 8 road Games vs. a team with a winning home record, and in their last 5 Games on the road the posted total has gone Over every time.

Pittsburgh is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home Games vs. a team with a winning road record and in their last 6 Games after an ATS win the posted total has gone Under every time.

Bettorsworld Pick –  We have this Game right around the current posted line if Steelers -6. However, Our predicted total is about 9 points less than the current number of 49. So…….NYG/PITT UNDER 49
