Seattle Seahawks

vs.

New York Jets

Week 4

NFL Pick

10/2/16

The Seahawks are limping into New York against the Jets this week. The Jets had some of the worst quarterback play since the creation of the sport. The Jets’ QB Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for six interceptions and three interceptions happened in the Red zone against the Kansas City Chiefs last week.

The Jets saw glimpses of brilliaNCe last year with Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback, but this season the QB has thrown for 7 interceptions and only 3 touchdowns thus far. The Jets have relied on running back Matt Forte to carry the load while the passing Game has sputtered. The Jets Matt Forte has already rushed for 261 yards on a whopping 67 carries this season. It looks like the Jets will continue to utilize a heavy dose of Matt Forte on the ground to keep them afloat until the passing Game can come along.

The Seahawks are hoping that Russell Wilson can play through the knee injury that occurred against the 49ers last week. The quarterback does not have Beast Mode to hand the ball to this year, but it seems to be no problem at all for the Seahawks. The Seahawks have received a strong contribution from 2nd string running back Christine Michael who has rushed for 232 yards on 45 carries and two touchdowns.

The Seahawks are going to have to continue to get Doug Baldwin involved on offense. Doug Baldwin has 20 catches this season and 276 yards receiving through the first three Games this year. In the end, it won’t be the offense that saves the day it will be the consistent defense the Seahawks put on the field each year. The Seahawks have Pro-bowlers all over the field on defense with Linebackers K.J. Wright and Bobby Wagner patrolling the middle of the field and with Safety Earl Thomas and All-Pro Richard Sherman at CB patrolling the secondary… This should be enough to come away with the win.

We’d expect the Jets to look like a much different football team this week. It’s rare for an NFL team to look as bad as the Jets did last week, two weeks in a row. What that performance did, was give us some extra line value. There’s no way the Seahawks would be favored this week had the Jets not performed so poorly last week.

We shouldn’t get too excited over the Sehawks win over the 49ers. The 49ers aren’t very good. Prior to that, Seattle scored 12 against Miami and 3 against the Rams! Jets +2.5
