Houston Texans

vs.

Green Bay Packers

By Jason Green

12/4/16

The Texans have lost their last 2 Games and they are tied with the Indianapolis Colts atop the AFC South. Their D has been pretty good on the season, but their offense has not ranked 29th in the league in ppg. They threw a ton of money to sign Brock Osweiler, but he has not had a great first season in the Lone Star State. He leads a Houston passing offense that ranks 2nd to last in the league in passing yards per Game and he leads the NFL in interceptions.

The Packers stopped the bleeding by ending their 4-Game losing streak with a win in their last Game where there were flashes of the old Aaron Rodgers. They are 2 Games behind the Lions and 1 Game behind the Vikings in the NFC North standings and they need to win this Game to keep their playoff hopes alive. The passing offense has been good this season, but injuries have hut the run Game and on D Green Bay only ranks 25th in opponents’ points allowed.

In their last Game the Texans lost to the San Diego Chargers 21-13 where they did not cover the spread as a 2.5-point home underdog.

The Packers beat the Philadelphia Eagles in their last Game 27-13 where they covered as a 4-point road underdog.

The Texans did not play a bad Game on defense in their loss to the Chargers where they outGAined them by over 50 yards, but Osweiler, while passing for 246 yards, had 0 TD and 3 INT. DeAndre Hopkins was the lead WR or a group that is decent at best and lead RB LAmar Miller only averaged a weak 3 yards per carry only GAining 57 rushing yards.

Osweiler, will have a chance to redeem himself in this Game facing a Green Bay pass D that only ranks 20th in the league while their run D ranks a respectable 7th.

In the win over the Eagles in their last Game Aaron Rodgers passing for 313 yards with 2 TD and 0 INT and Davante Adams    , who caught both of the TD passes, and Jordy Nelson combined for 204 receiving yards. Rodgers has the weapons on the outside, but has not got much help from the rushing offense this season, especially with Eddie LAcy out with an injury. In the win over the Eagles the Packers only rushed for 74 yards.

Houston is 5-1-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road Games, and in their last 7 Games after an ATS loss the posted total has gone Under 5 times.

Green Bay is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Games after allowing less than 15 points in their previous Game and in their last 11 Games at home the posted total has gone Under 9 times.

Jason’s Pick: I think the sleeping giant has been awoken and the Packers will be a great team in the last few Games. Rodgers will light up the Houston pass D and while the Texans will Scorepoints the Packers will light up the scoreboard winning and covering the spread.
