Kansas State

Texas snapped their 3-Game losing streak with a win over Iowa State in their last Game, but they are only 3-3 and have 1 Conference win. Head coach Charlie Strong is on the hot season, big time, and with remaining Games against the Ranked teams of Baylor and West Virginia as well as the last Game facing a tough TCU team it is not far fetched to see the Longhorns at sub .500 for a 2nd straight season.

Kansas State has lost 2 of their last 3 Games, both losses coming against currently ranked teams, and they are along with Texas at 1-2 in Big 12 play. While they don’t have a dynamic offense they are scoring points to the tune of 31.3 ppg and they have a pretty good defense that ranks 30th in the nation giving up 21 ppg.

K State has covered in 7 of their last 9 Games facing Texas including going 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home Games against them.

Texas got back in the W column in their last Game beating Iowa State 27-6 at home and covering as a 17-point favorite. KSU lost to Oklahoma 38-17 on the road in their last Game where they failed to cover as a 13.5-point underdog.

Texas has a legit offense, but their defense has been the issue this season ranking 106th in the nation in opponents’ points allowed. Freshman QB Shane Buechele has been a bright spot for the Longhorns and in his last 2 Games he has 5 TD and 2 INT. The big star on offense is RB D’Onta Foreman, who has rushed for at least 131 yards in every Game this season. Kansas State has a great run defense ranking 4th in the nation in that category, but their pass D only ranks 91st.

The Wildcats may lean more on the run in this Game with QB Jesse Ertz nursing a shoulder injury and if he cannot go Joe Hubener will get the starting nod under center. The loss of Ertz may hurt more in the backfield, as he is the Wildcats’ 2nd leading rusher. Charles Jones leads KSU in rushing yards, but he struggled in the last Game. The Longhorns have had major issues on D this season and they only rank 12th in pass defense and 76th in run defense.

Texas is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Games overall, 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road Games, and in their last 5 road Games the posted total has gone Over 4 times.

KSU is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Games following a straight up loss and 42-19-1 ATS in their last 62 Conference Games.

Bettorsworld Pick – Both teams can move the ball but we give the edge to Kansas State defensively which should be enough to get the win and cover here. A revenge call. Kansas State -2.5
