Wyoming

vs.

Nevada

College Football Pick

10/22/16

By Jason Green

Wyoming has won two in a row and they are one of only two unbeaten teams in the MWC Mountain Division along with Boise State, who they face in their next Game. However, while Nevada has lost 3 of their last 4 Games the Cowboys cannot overlook them to their big next Game.

The Cowboys do not have a great defense and a less then stellar aerial attack, but they can run the ball ranking 44th in the nation averaging 197.5 ppg. Last season at Nevada the Cowboys beat the Wolfpack 28-21 after losing 2 straight facing them.

While Wyoming is the betting favorite in this Game Nevada is 3-0 at home while the Cowboys are 1-2 on the road.

Wyoming beat Air Force 35-26 in their last Game where they covered as a 13.5-point home underdog. Nevada lost to San Jose State in their last Game 14-10 where they failed to cover as a 2.5-point underdog.

Josh Allen leads the Cowboys under center and in the win over Air Force he had 173 yards with 3 TD and 0 INT. he has a good decent WR corps and besides throwing 5 picks in the loss to Nebraska this season he only has 1 other on the season. The one main goal in this Game for the Wolfpack is to try to contain RB Brian Hill, who has rushed for 721 yards with 8 TD on the season. He will get a lot of touches and while he has had some big Games this season in 2 of his last 3 Games he has not rushed for over 92 yards or average over 3.7 yards per carry.

Hill did not have a great Game facing Air Force, but he may pad his stats in this Game facing a Nevada run D that only ranks 122nd in the nation. On the other side of the coin their pass D is legit ranking 22nd in the nation.

In the loss to San Jose State it was a grind and James Butler was the big guy rushing for 94 yards and having 3 catches for 92 receiving yards and a TD. QB Tyler Stewart was 9-of-20 passes for 144 yards and two INT in the Game and while he has not put up big numbers this season he had not been picked off in 4 straight Games. The Wolfpack may want to draw up some more pass plays in this Game, as the Cowboys only rank 120th out of 128 FBS teams in pass defense while they rank a respectable 43rd in run defense.

Wyoming is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road Games, 2-10 ATS vs. a team with a losing record, and in their last 7 Games the posted total has gone Over 5 times.

Nevada is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Games overall, 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 Conference Games, and in their last 22 home Games the posted total has gone Under 17 times.

Jason’s Pick:
Wyoming -5.5
