Giants

vs.

49ers

Week 10

NFL Pick

11/12/17

By: Jason Green

New York Giants (1-7 SU 3-5 ATS) vs. San Francisco 49ers (0-9 SU 4-5 ATS)

The Giants are reeling, as they have only one win and a recent report has the team not having support for head coach Ben McAdoo. They were shellacked in their last Game and they only rank 30th in the NFL in ppg and 29th in opponents’ ppg. However, they are the slight road betting favorite facing the winless 49ers.

At 5 dimes sportsbook this Game has the Giants as the 2.5-point favorite with a total of 42.

The 49ers are along with the Cleveland Browns as the only winless teams in the league and they are headed for yet another high draft pick. However, there is a silver lining with the trade for highly sought after QB Jimmy GAroppolo and while this will be his 2nd Game with the team since coming over from New England he will be the backup in this Game. Like the Giants San Francisco has also been less than impressive on either side of the ball ranking 29th in ppg and 31st in opponents’ ppg.

The Giants have covered the spread in seven of their last 10 Games against the 49ers and have also covered in Four of their last five Games against them in the City by the Bay.

In their last Game the Giants were embarrassed losing to the L.A. Rams 51-17 where they GAve up 473 yards. In two quarters in the Game they GAve up at least 20 points and they had three turnovers while not forcing any. Eli Manning passed for 220 with 2 TD and 1 INT and the WR duo of Evan Engram and Sterling Shepard each had 70 receiving yards. Orleans Darkwa was the lead RB in the Game and was not bad with 71 yards on the ground and averaging a respectable 4.4 yards per carry.

A couple of things the Giants have going for them in this Game, besides facing winless San Fran, is that their lone win on the season came on the road and they will face a 49ers pass defense that only ranks 28th in the league.

The 49ers lost to the Arizona Cardinals 20-10 and at least they are consistent, as they have scored 10 points in each of their last three Games. They had two turnovers and forced two and they struggled to run the ball with only 63 rushing yards. Rookie C.J. Beathard, who will get the start in this Game, passed for 2974 yards with 0 TD and 1 INT and RB Carlos Hyde was his main target with 84 receiving yards. Hyde only had 41 yards on the ground.

New York’s defense has balaNCe, but not in a good way ranking 25th in both pass and run defense.

The Giants are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 Games against a team with a losing record, 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 Games after an ATS loss, and in their last 13 road Games the Under record is 9-4.

The 49ers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Games, 7-16 ATS in their last 23 Games after an ATS loss, and in their last 27 home Games the Under record is 19-8.

Jason’s Pick: The 49ers are winless, but that will change after this Game. I think Hyde will have a big Game and the 49ers defense will keep Manning and company in check. Not only will San Francisco cover the spread, but they will also pick up their first W of the season.
