Panthers

vs.

Bucs

Week 8

NFL Pick

10/29/17

The Panthers have lost two in a row and in their last loss they only GAve up three points, but GAve up 14 points on turnovers. With their loss they dropped behind the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South and while their D has played pretty well they only rank 22nd in the league in ppg. Carolina could use a win in this Game, as their next six are facing teams that are currently .500 or better.

At 5dimes sportsbook the Buccaneers are the 1-point favorites with a total of 45.

Many though the Bucs had a legit shot in the NFC South this season, but they have lost three in a row and in their last two Games they have given up at least 30 points. Jameis Winston leads an offense that ranks 1st in the NFL in passing yards per Game, but only 30th in rushing yards per Game and the defense only ranks 29th giving up an average of 25.2 ppg.

The Panthers are 6-2 ATS overall in their last eight Games facing the Bucs and have covered the spread in their last Four Games facing them in Tampa Bay.

The Panthers are coming off a 17-3 loss to the Chicago Bears in their last Game where they only GAve up 153 yards and 85 passing yards. They committed three turnovers and did not force one and while they ranked up nearly 300 yards and had 20 first downs they only scored three points. Cam Newton passed for 211 yards with Kelvin Benjamin being his main target for 65 yards, but he did not have a TD and was picked off twice and was sacked five times. Newton led the team with 50 rushing yards with Jonathan Stewart chiming in for 48 yards on the ground, but only averaged 3.4 yards per carry.

The Panthers are better when they run the ball and do not have to rely on Newton and they will be facing a Tampa Bat run D that ranks a respectable tied for 13th in the league, but GAve up 169 rushing yards in their last Game.

The Bucs had a tough loss in their last Game falling to the Buffalo Bills 30-27 in OT where they got the rock first in the extra period, but then fumbled the ball deep in their own territory. Turnovers hurt Tampa bad, as they had three of them and the one in OT set up the Bills in field goal range right off the bat. Winston had another big numbers Game passing for 384 yards with 3 TD and 1 INT and Four Bucs’ players had at least 60 receiving yards. Doug Martin led Tampa Bay with 49 rushing yards, but he only averaged 12.5 yards per carry. He had a pretty good first Game after his 3-Game suspension was up, but in the last two he has averaged less than 3.8 yards per carry in each Game.

The Panthers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road Games, 1-3-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record, and in their last five Games the Over record is 5-1.

The Bucs are  0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 Games overall, 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 Games following a straight up loss, and in their last 6 home Games the Under record is 5-1.

Jason’s Pick: This is a key Game for both teams and while the Panthers are coming off a loss they played great D in their last Game. They will get to Winston in this Game and while he may put up big numbers he will not get much help from the run Game and the D will struggle. Carolina will get the W in this Game and hand the Bucs their 4th loss in a row.
