Saints

Week 11

NFL Pick

11/19/17

By: Jason Green

Washington Redskins (4-5 SU 3-6 ATS) vs. New Orleans Saints (7-2 SU 7-2 ATS)

Well, time is running out for the Redskins, as they lost their last Game, which dropped them under .500. the big question is which Washington defense will show up? The one that GAve up 38 points in their last Game at home or the one that held the Seahawks to only 14 points on the road two weeks back. Kirk Cousins has played well, but the run Game only rank 23rd in the league in rushing yards per Game and the defense only ranks 26th in points against.

At 5 dimes sportsbook the Saints are 9-point favorites with a total of 51.

The Saints are the hottest team in the league, as they have reeled off seven straight wins after dropping their first two Games of the season. While they are known for having Drew Brees and a great passing attack the D has been getting it done for them, only giving up 10 points in each of their last two Games, and they rank 3rd in the NFL in ppg and tied for 5th in points against.

The Redskins have covered the spread in their last five Games against the Saints.

In their last Game the Redskins lost to the Minnesota Vikings 38-30 where they GAve up 406 total yards. Washington did have 394 yards, but they could not come back from a big deficit despite getting two INT in the 2nd half. The Redskins only rushed for 81 yards and the run Game has to help Cousins out to keep the D honest. Cousins passed for 327 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT and Jamison Crowder and the ageless Vernon Davis each had 76 receiving yards. As a team Washington only averaged three yards per carry and the slew of backs they have must step up in this Game. This is especially the case in this Game in the Big Easy, as the Saints are stronger defending the pass than the run.

The Redskins really could use a W, as if they lose and fall two Games under .500 the playoffs will be a major uphill battle. Speaking of the playoffs they may have to rely on the Wild Card since the Eagles are running away with the NFC East at 8-1.

The Saints put on a show in this Game playing great on both sides of the ball in their 47-10 blowout win over the Buffalo Bills. They dominated the Game, which was in Buffalo no less, out-GAining the Bills 482 yards to 198 yards and they rushed for a whopping 298 yards. Brees did not have to do much in the Game with the RB’s getting it done and he only passed for 184 yards and did not have a TD or an INT. Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara were the stars of the Game each rushing for at least 106 yards and both averaged over six yards per carry.

The Redskins’ D has taken their knocks this season and overall, they rank 18th in the league in pass defense and 13th in run defense.

The Redskins are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 Games, 9-4 ATS in their last 13 Games after a straight up loss, and in their last 16 road Games they have an Over record of 13-3.

The Saints are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home Games, 9-1 ATS in their last 10 Games against a team with a losing record, and in their last 18 home Games they have an Over record of 12-5-1.

Jason’s Pick: The last time the Skins were on the road they shocked the league putting on a great defensive show in beating the Seattle Seahawks. I don’t see them winning this Game, hey they might, but their D will step up. Washington will keep it close and they will at least cover the spread getting nine points.
