Steelers

vs.

Ravens

Week 4

NFL Pick

10/1/17

By: Jason Green

Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1 SU 1-2 ATS) vs. Baltimore Ravens (2-1 SU 2-1 ATS)

The Steelers won their first two Games of the season, but they were shocked last week losing to the Chicago Bears in OT. In the loss QB Ben Roethlisberger stepped up afterwards and put the blame on his shoulders for the loss. Pittsburgh has not looked good this season so far narrowly beating the Browns in their first Game, beating the Vikings with their backup QB in their 2nd Game, and then losing to the Bears last week. They are a road favorite in this Game facing the Ravens, who were throttled in their last Game.

At 5 dimes sportsbook the Steelers are 3-point favorites with a total of 42.

The Ravens won their first two Games and then flew to England to play last week where they were crushed. What makes matters worse is that they lost by 37 points and only scored one TD facing the Jacksonville Jaguars and I bet that was a fun plane ride home afterwards. Baltimore had only given up 10 points combined in their first two Games before giving up 44 in their last Game.

Last season these teams split the two Games facing each other with each winning at home. The Ravens are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five Games facing the Steelers.

In their last Game the Steelers lost to the Bears 23-17 in OT and they had shut out Chicago in the 2nd half before giving up the Game-winning TD on a 19-yard run in the extra period. Big Ben was 22 for 39 for 235 yards with a TD and no INT and star WR Antonio Brown had 110 receiving yards and a TD. Le’Veon Bell had his best Game of the season rushing for 61 yards on a 4.1 yard per carry average and he also had 37 receiving yards. He has to help Big Ben more and get more carries in the backfield for a Pittsburgh rushing offense that ranks tied for 29th in the league.

The Ravens were embarrassed in their last Game losing to the Jaguars 44-7 in England. They only had 186 total yards and their defense, which is the strength of the team, GAve up a surprising 410 yards. Joe FlACCo had a terrible Game going 8 for 18 for only 28 yards with no TD and 2 INT before getting beNChed and overall Baltimore only passed for 52 yards. Alex Collins led the Ravens with 82 rushing yards and overall the team rushed for a decent 134 yards, but with turning the ball over three times and with no passing Game no surprise they were blown out.

The Steelers are 11-5-1 ATS in their last 17 Games in October, 21-8-2 ATS in their last 31 road Games vs. a team with a winning home record, and in their last 28 road Games they have an Under record of 21-7.

The Ravens are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home Games, 4-13-2 ATS in their last 19 Games following a straight up loss, and in their last 14 home Games they have an Under record of 10-4.

The Ravens will not be nearly as they were last week across the pond, but unfortunately for them either will the Steelers. Pittsburgh will get back in the W column, as Big Ben will have a good Game and the defense will keep the Ravens from scoring many points. Take the Steelers to win and cover this Sunday.
