Vikings

vs.

Redskins

Week 10

NFL Pick

11/12/17

By: Jason Green

Minnesota Vikings (6-2 SU 5-3 ATS) vs. Washington Redskins (4-4 SU 3-5 ATS)

The Vikings are hot winners of four in a row and they are in first place in the NFC North with a two-game lead over the Aaron Rodgers-less Packers team Case Keenum has taken over as the starting QB and has played well and Minnesota has a defense that ranks 3rd in the league only giving up an average of 16.9 ppg. They have given up 16 points in their last two games and have not given up more than 17 points in any of the games of their four-game winning streak.

At 5 dimes sportsbook this game is a PICK with the total sitting at 42.

The Redskins are at .500 and had lost two in a row before they got one of their better wins in the last few seasons in their last game beating the Seattle Seahawks on the road in their last game. Their D really stepped up in the game and Kirk Cousins had some late-game heroics to help Washington pull out the win. The Skins may have to rely on the Wild Card to make the playoffs with the 8-1 Philadelphia Eagles really in control of the NFC East.

Last season at Washington the Redskins beat the Vikings and the home team has covered the spread in the last four games between these NFC teams.

The Vikings are coming off a bye and in their last game they beat the winless Cleveland Browns 33-16. They had 99 more yards than Cleveland and they also forced two turnovers even though they struggled to run the ball. Keenum passed for 288 yards with 2 TD and 1 INT and Adam Thielen, who leads the NFL in receiving yards, let the team with 98 yards in the air. Jerick McKinnon    and Latavius Murray combined for 89 rushing yards, but neither player averaged over 3.6 yards per carry.

Which Redskins D will show up in this game the one that gave up at least 33 points in losing two straight games or the one that held Seattle to only 14 points in their last game? Overall, Washington only ranks 24th in the league in points allowed per game.

The Redskins beat the Seattle Seahawks 17-14 in their last game where they were nearly out-gained by 200 yards, but they made the big play when it mattered, forced two turnovers, and held Seattle to 5/14 on 3rd down. Kirk Cousins passed for 247 yards and while he did have a TD he did not have an INT and set up the game-winning TD with a long bomb to the 1-yard line late in the game to Josh Doctson. He, Vernon Davis, and Brain Quick each had at least 49 receiving yards and the pass game was about all they had with only 51 rushing yards. Chris Thomson and Rob Kelly have to help out Cousins more, which will be hard facing a Minnesota run D that ranks 3rd in the league.

The Skins’ pass rush was legit in the Seattle game and if they can pressure Keenum, who is less mobile, they may force the career backup to some mistakes.

The Vikings are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 road games, 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games after a bye week, and in their last 24 road games they have an Under record of 16-7-1.

The Redskins are 1-4 in their last 5 games, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games, and in their last 14 home games they have an Over record of 10-4.

Jason’s Pick: The Vikings have not beaten a very good team since Week 1 beating the Saints, who have won six in a row. Yeah, they beat the Packers, but that was when they knocked out Aaron Rodgers. This Sunday in the Nation’s Capital they face a good QB ion Cousins and they will not keep him down. Washington will build on their great win over Seattle, as they will win, cover the spread, move over .500, and snap the Vikings winning streak.
