Seattle Seahawks

Chicago Bears

Preview - Pick

By: Jason Green

Seattle Seahawks (0-1 SU 0-0-1 ATS) vs. Chicago Bears (0-1 SU 1-0 ATS)

Both the Seahawks and the Bears lost their opening games and they are games they could have easily won. Seattle lost to the Denver Broncos 27-24 where they struggled on 3rd down, failed to run the ball well, and Russell Wilson was sacked six times. They were out-gained by 166 yards and still only lost by three points.

The Bears looked like they were going to win their last game up 20-0 on the Green Bay Packers in the 3rd quarter. However, then Aaron Rodgers did his magic on three TD drives in the 4th quarter while the Chicago offense stalled.

These teams have not met since the 2015 season where the Seahawks shut out the Bears winning 26-0.

At 5Dimes sportsbook the Bears are a 3.5-point favorite with a total sitting at 43.5.

Early in the season the Seahawks are 0-0-1 ATS with an O/U record of 1-0 and the Bears are 1-0 ATS with an O/U record of 1-0.

The Seahawks are not only 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games facing the Bears, but also 4-1 ATS in their last 5 facing them in Chicago.

In the loss to the Broncos last week the Seahawks were out-gained 470 yards to 306 yards, were only 2/12 on 3rd down conversions, and they only rushed for 64 yards. They did have three turnovers in the game, but also committed two.

Russell Wilson nearly passed for 300 yards and had three TD, but also had two picks and was sacked six times for a loss of 56 yards. Rookie TE Will Dissly was Wilson’s lead target with three catches for 105 yards and a TD and three WR’s each had at least 35 receiving yards.

Seattle’s Chris Carson rushed for 51 yards on seven carries while Rashaad Penny also had seven carries only picking up eight yards. Seattle only called 14 plays for the RB’s and they will face a Chicago run defense that held the Packers to only 69 rushing yards.

The Temple of Boom is no longer with the Seahawks, but member Earl Thomas had an INT in the loss to Denver and Bradley McDougald had two INT.

The Bears simply could not stop Aaron Rodgers in the 4th quarter and that is why they lost. Mitchell Trubisky passed for 171 yards averaging less than five yards per reception and he also rushed for 82 yards. Jordan Howard led the team with 82 rushing yards and averaged a legit 5.5 yards per carry. DE Khalil Mack made an immediate impact on the Chicago D in a great game facing Green Bay with a pick-six, a sack, and a strip fumble in the end zone.

Key Betting Trends

4-1-2 ATS in their last 7 road games

1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall

8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 Monday Night games

Under record of 5-2 in their last 7 road games

4-1 ATS in their last 5 games

9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 home games

6-2 ATS in their last 8 Monday Night games

Under record of 6-1 in their last 7 games

Jason’s Pick: The Bears have Mack and a good young QB and RB, but still not sold on them. On the other side of the coin the Seahawks are not the team they once were, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Still, Seattle is, I think, the better team and they will at least cover the spread in this NFC matchup.
