FIREWORKS IN THE BRONX
RED SOX VS
YANKEES
7/3/08
The Red Sox visit the Bronx for a 4th of July weekend four game
series with the Yankees and there promises fireworks both during and
after the game. After the game, of course, with the customary
fireworks display put on by the home team as happens in most parks
across the country. But the fireworks we're concerned with, will
take place on the field as these two teams have no trouble scoring
runs.
The Yankees exploded for 18 runs against the Rangers in the last
game of their series last night after scoring just 4 runs total in
their last 3 games. It may be unfortunate for the Bosox that the
Yankee bats are getting hot again coming into this series. The Sox
aren't exactly comfortable playing with a lead these days as
evidenced by last nights loss to the Devil Rays. The bullpen
continues to raise questions. The Bosox blew a 4-1 lead by giving up
6 runs in the 7th in a 7-6 loss.
By this point, you can probably see where I'm going with this.
4th of July weekend. Fireworks. Yanks, Sox. questionable bullpen.
Yankees scoring 18 runs. Two of the most powerful lineups in all of
baseball. I'd look real close at the over in his series regardless
who starts on the mound for either team. The Red Sox are in the top
5 of just about every offensive category. That's top 5 in all of
major league baseball. The Yankees aren't far behind and we all know
that regardless of where this Yankees team places offensively
currently, they are one of the most powerful offensive teams in
baseball.
Folks, the Yankees and Red Sox scored 49 runs between them their
last 3 games with each other back in April. In those games we saw
Beckett, Mussina, Wang, and Matsuzaka. Didn't matter who
pitched. We saw fireworks. In these days of pitch counts and
pitchers getting yanked at the first time of trouble, you can expect
these teams to get into each others bullpens with plenty of baseball
left to play each day. In this series, you can go back and find
numerous 12+ run games even in the playoffs.
I'd take a close look at the overs in this series as well as the
underdogs in each game. Anything can happen when these two hook up.
Anyone can win. Good Luck and Happy 4th of July!
