If kickoff weekend wasn’t enough, week two should be even better with some
dynamite match-ups on the schedule. Here is a look at the best games upcoming
this weekend and predictions for those match-ups.
No. 1 Ohio State at No. 2 Texas (-2.5)
It’s the top two teams in the country colliding in the second week on ABC
primetime. Troy Smith and Ted Ginn Jr. looked amazing in the first half against
Northern Illinois, while freshman Colt McCoy did well to make Longhorn fans
forget about Vince Young. While the Ohio State defense may not be as talented as
the Texas unit, they have adequate athletes to make plays. Payback will be on
the minds of the Buckeyes when they come to Austin for one of the best games of
the season.
Prediction: Ohio State 27, Texas 17
No. 19 Penn State at No. 4 Notre Dame (-8)
The Irish will look to rebound and have a much better game against JoPa and the
Nittany Lions at home this Saturday. Brady Quinn wasn’t overwhelming in game
one, however he never made mistakes to cost his team the game. Look for the
Irish to make a statement and prove they are indeed as highly touted as the
ranking that appears before its name.
Prediction: Notre Dame 24, Penn State 13
No. 21 Oregon at Fresno State
Fresno State kicked off the college football season on Thursday with an
impressive victory over last year’s co-WAC champ Nevada. Oregon crushed Stanford
at home this past Saturday. Expect a good attacking style game in which both
teams score more then not. While the Fresno State home field advantage does play
into the equation, Oregon is too talented to slip up here on the road.
Prediction: Oregon 34 (-5.5), Fresno State 26
