NFL Weekly Look Ahead – Week
5
Starting this week, each NFL weekly look ahead will break down one of the better
match-ups each Sunday. For week 5 we focus on the NFC East with the
larger-than-life match-up this week between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas
Cowboys. Besides the obvious reasons to talk about this game, both teams come in
with just one loss: Philly at 3-1 and Dallas at 2-1. The Cowboys off a bye week
routed the Titans 45-14. The Eagles struggled in the first half of Monday Night
Football, but rebounded nicely and opened up the game in the third quarter and
won 31-9 over Green Bay.
Both teams have identical ATS records to their records W/L wise. That is not the
only stat that is practically a mirror image between the two teams. Dallas is
scoring 29.7 points per game, the Eagles scoring 29.2. Similarly, Philly is
conceding 18 points a game on defense while the Cowboys are giving up 16 a
contest. Dallas comes in 2-0-1 O/U with the Eagles 2-2 in totals.
Star power will be the focal point of this game. Donovan McNabb is having one
his better seasons, posting a 106 qb rating with 9 touchdowns to just 1
interception. Terrell Owens has done well in his first year of as a member of
the Cowboys, but has not dominated. His persona is practically bigger than his
play and regardless if he failed to catch a ball this season, his hype would
still be off the wall.
