If the past two Monday nights are any indication, next week’s NFC East showdown
between New York and Dallas should be a dandy. Two weeks ago Baltimore and
Denver played to a defensive struggle. This past Monday Chicago stunned Arizona
with three non-offensive touchdowns in the second half to win, 24-23. Next
Monday in Dallas, the Giants and Cowboys both come in at 3-2 and sit in the
middle of their tightly contested division.
As well, both are coming off very impressive wins. The Giants went into Atlanta
and pushed around the Falcons, 37-14. Dallas crushed Houston 34-6 behind Terrell
Owens’ three scores.
New York has seen Eli Manning evolve into one of the conference’s top
quarterbacks, while Dallas has seen a very inconsistent effort game-by-game from
Drew Bledsoe. Manning has thrown for 11 scores in five games with Bledsoe has
tossed for seven with as many interceptions.
In this match-up, the home team ahs had an overwhelming amount of success,
posting a 10-4-1 record ATS in the last 15 meetings.
The Giants are 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine divisional games. New York has also
won six of the last ten meetings and three of the last four.
Both teams have equal records ATS at 3-2. The boast similar stats scoring and
defensively and only two of the last ten games have had spreads higher than a
touchdown. The Giants are 2-2-1 against the total and the ‘Boys 3-1-1.
New York is 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games in October, however Dallas holds
the exact same mark in this month.
The over is 5-0-1 in the Giants last six road games, but the under is 5-1 in
their last six Monday night games.
For Dallas, the over is 4-0 in as many games as a favorite of 0.5-3 points. As
well, the over is 4-0 against a team with a winning record.
