2010 MAC Football West Division Predictions - Wide Open Race - The Mid American Conference (MAC) West division was won by the Central Michigan Chippewas in 2009. They didn't lose a single game to MAC foes and ended the year 12-2 with an 8-0 MAC record. Things look to be MUCH more competitive this year. Western Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Ball State all figure to rise as strong foes for the Chips and all others in the MAC. Let's take a look at the teams in the MAC West and their prospects for the 2010 college football season.

7/7/10

2010 MAC East Division Team by Team Football Previews - Members of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) East division look poised for a strong 2010 season. Last year Temple and Ohio tied for the #1 spot in the standings, but Ohio won the head to head matchup tiebreaker. Both of those teams will be strong this year, along with Kent State, and Buffalo.

7/6/10

2010 Sun Belt Conference Football Preview - 2009 was the year of the Troy Trojans in the Sun Belt Conference once again. They finished a perfect 8-0 in conference play narrowly edging out Middle Tennessee State. The Sun Belt looks to be a two horse race again, but North Texas, Florida Atlantic, and Arkansas State are all solid teams this year.

Germany vs. Spain World Cup Semi Finals (Wednesday) - A rematch of the 2008 UEFA Euro Cup is slated to take place between Spain and Germany. A trip to the FIFA World Cup final is at stake Wednesday, July 7th at Durban Stadium in South Africa. Both teams bring a 4-1-0 2010 World Cup tournament record into the match. Spain was victorious in 2008 but there are big differences in both teams now in 2010.

Netherlands vs. Uruguay - World Cup Semi Finals (Tuesday) - We are down to the final four as giant killer Netherlands takes on the scrappy and talented Uruguayans. In the quarter-finals Netherlands came from a goal back to shock mighty Brazil 2-1, in a match that saw them outplayed in the first half. Uruguay broke African hearts with a stunning victory over Ghana achieved through penalty kicks. Netherlands is slightly favored going into the match. Uruguay could be emotionally spent after their dramatic victory over Ghana, if so look for Wesley Sneijder (three goals in the Cup) and Arjen Robben to find some gaps in a defense that could be dragging a bit.

7/4/10

2010 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest - You know it's the heart of Summer when we mention Joey Chestnut, Takeru Kobayashi and the famous Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest, and event we look forward to covering each year. As always, we will post the current odds to win the 2010 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest at the end of this article. You can tune in at 12 noon est. on ESPN to watch this spectacular event. As a special footnote to this years contest, Nathan's Famous intends to provide a hot dog lunch to 100,000 U.S. troops stationed overseas.

7/1/10

Spain vs. Paraguay World Cup Quarter Finals - It's no surprise Spain is the heavy favorite for Saturday's Quarter final match against Paraguay. Spain's recent 3 match win streak is making the 1-0 loss against Switzerland in the opening game seem like ancient history. Paraguay, on the other hand, have been unable to put up a regulation goal since the 2-0 win against Slovakia on June 20th. Paraguay does however have a tournament record unblemished by any losses, 1-0-3.

6/30/10

Ghana vs Uruguay Prediction - If one word can describe some of the results and contenders in the 2010 World Cup that word would be...surprise. Uruguay and Ghana will battle for a spot in the semi-finals, and that just mentioned word is really at play here. Ghana made history when they defeated the United States 2-1, while Uruguay snuck past South Korea by the same score.

6/28/10

Paraguay vs. Japan - Not many experts picked Japan and Paraguay to make it to the round of 16. Being seated alongside Italy might have made the Paraguay squad pause a bit, but they ended up finishing atop in Group F. Paraguay opened the Cup with a 1-1 tie against Italy, and then beat Slovakia 2-0. Their final match with New Zealand was in a way a disappointing 0-0 draw, even though they outshot there opponents 17-4.

6/26/10

Argentina vs. Mexico - (Sunday) - Sunday's night-cap elimination match in Soccer City stadium couldn't be set up any better. CONCACAF power house, Mexico will be the underdog against CONMEBOL statistical giant, Argentina. The weather is forecasted to be clear with no chance of rain and a temperature of 50 degrees Fahrenheit at the 8:30 pm local time kick off.

England vs. Germany - Prediction - Talk about pressure. The team from England has their backs up against the wall. The team is in disarray, as was suggested before they ever took the field in the tournament, and it continues to get worse. Their lackluster performances have landed them a match with Germany in the round of 16.

6/25/10

USA vs. Ghana Knockout Round Key Release - After having watched the majority of the games in the opening round of World Cup play, it's safe to say that the USA team belongs here in the "Sweet 16" or "Knockout Round". They have a very real chance at making it into the semi finals and really putting an exclamation point on the end of the sentence "USA Soccer has arrived!".

Uruguay vs. South Korea - Knockout Round - In an intriguing matchup, favored Uruguay takes on a determined South Korea squad. Uruguay's play has been pretty consistent so far; they battled to a 0-0 tie against France and then followed that game with a convincing 3-0 victory over South Africa. Their final match was against Mexico, which Uruguay only needed a draw to advance. The game was a hard fought affair, with Uruguay prevailing 1-0 to qualify as group winners.

6/23/10

Japan vs. Denmark - Group E pool play comes to a climax Thursday night at 8:30 pm local time when a high stakes match between Denmark and Japan kicks off. A trip along with The Netherlands to the elimination bracket is dependent solely on the outcome if this game. The pressure will be on Denmark in Royal Bafokeng Stadium as they need an outright win to advance to the elimination round of 16.

Brazil vs. Portugal (Friday) - The Brazilian soccer team was last seen thrashing Ivory Coast by a 3-1 score. The match was riddled with yellow cards, and star midfielder Kaka received a red card. That means he was immediately removed from the game and Brazil had to play "man down" and were not allowed to send in a replacement. This didn't hurt them much because they had a huge class advantage over Ivory Coast.

MMA Strikeforce - Emelianenko vs. Werdum - There is no question that Strikeforce is well below the UFC on the mixed martial arts odds pecking order in terms of popularity and betting action. However, one Strikeforce fighter, Fedor Emelianenko, the world's top-ranked heavyweight, can match the star power of just about any UFC fighter, and Emelianenko returns to action on Saturday night against UFC and Pride veteran Fabricio Werdum.

Wimbledon Preview - Federer and Serena Williams Favored - Federer is the 7/5 'chalk' to win his record-tying seventh Wimbledon title and record 17th overall major. Rafael Nadal is second at 9/4 odds. Andy Murray (6/1), Andy Roddick (10/1), Novak Djokovic (15/1) and Robin Soderling (15/1) round out the top-6. Federer won the Australian Open this year before losing in an upset at the French Open to Soderling. That ended his record streak of 23 straight Grand Slam semifinals.

6/22/10

USA vs. Algeria - If you aren't watching World Cup soccer yet, then you are truly missing out. The action has been top notch and the players are putting on a show. Every country has come to win and the competition is fierce. The United States entered the 2010 World Cup with high hopes. They tied England in their first match 1-1 thanks to an error by the English GK and strong play from American GK Tim Howard. Their opponent for Wednesday will be Algeria who also tied with England.

England vs. Slovenia - The question going through most minds at the World is as follows: What is wrong with England? They entered the tournament as one of the favorites but have failed to win in their first two tries. They tied the Americans and then also tied against Algeria. They find themselves in a must win situation against an inferior opponent, Slovenia. Will Wayne Rooney and company get the job done? Only time will tell.

Germany vs. Ghana - Surprise leaders of Group D Ghana face their toughest test when they tangle with a German team that is still coming to grips with its heartbreaking 1-0 loss to the scrappy Serbians. Ghana is still on a roll despite a bit of a disappointment in their most recent game a 1-1 tie with Australia. The Germans had looked unstoppable after hammering Australia 4-0, then were shocked by Serbia.

6/18/10

Cameroon vs Denmark - World Cup football is off and in full effect. Group play is going well for some and not so well for others. It isn't going well for Cameroon or Denmark. Both teams started the World Cup with losses. Neither team scored even a single goal. Cameroon fell to Japan and Denmark lost to Netherlands. Both nations desperately require a win.

6/17/10

England vs. Algeria - Key Release - Friday we have yet another mismatch in terms of the talent gap between England and Algeria. The odds to win the World Cup prior to the tournament starting had England as the 3rd favorite while Algeria was one of the biggest long shots of all, in front of only New Zealand, North Korea and Honduras.

Ghana vs Australia World Cup Pick - The Aussies have their backs against the wall as they face a strong Ghana team that is coming off an emotional 1-0 victory over favored Serbia. Australia was easily handled by the powerful Germany team losing 4-0, and maybe a little confidence. A win for Ghana will advance them to the next round, while Australia faces a very early elimination.

USA vs. Slovenia Prediction - Key Release - The World Cup started with a bang for the USA team who registered a 1-1 tie against England who was the favorite to win the game. Few expected a win for the Americans, so escaping with a tie certainly feels like a victory for them. If they wish to advance to the next round they will have to take down Slovenia. They are favored to do so. GK Tim Howard was injured against England, but he appears ready to play on Friday.

6/16/10

Argentina vs. South Korea - France vs. Mexico - Greece vs Nigeria - 3 Key Releases - Thursday World Cup action has France taking on Mexico, Greece vs. Nigeria and Argentina vs. Korea Republic. We've got two 1/2 unit plays and one full unit play so let's get right to it. Our full unit plays is going to be on Argentina -1 over South Korea. We've talked about Brazil and Spain being the co-favorites to win the Cup, well, Argentina would be among the top 3 or 4 teams as well, with a very realistic chance at winning it all.

World Cup Arbitrage - Risk Free Profits - It goes by many names. Arbitrage and Scalping are the two most well known names. Both are terms for "risk free" money making opportunities in sportsbetting. These opportunities exist in all sports, but are often very difficult and time consuming to find in the more popular American betting sports like baseball, football and basketball. Oh, they exist, but you have to be quick on your feet, or, I guess, quick with your hands in this case, to take advantage.

Vuvuzela Horns - World Cup Noisemakers - They're loud, they're horny and they've at the World Cup. The vuvuzela horns, the traditional African instruments that are blown at a deafening monotone at soccer matches in South Africa, have become the most talked about thing at the World Cup.
