NFL Weekly Look Ahead – Week 2 2006
Tampa Bay Bucs at Atlanta Falcons (-5.5)
Tampa Bay was hapless losing 27-0 in week one. Atlanta rolled division rivals
Carolina and now host the Bucs this Sunday. Mike Vick was stellar with the ball
and never turned it over, a key fact to the game’s outcome. Chris Simms faces
another good defense and should struggle again to produce points.
Free pick: Atlanta -5.5
Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears
Lions’ wide out Roy Williams has already guaranteed a victory while saying it
was silly how close his team was to putting up 40 points against Seattle in week
one. Um...didn’t they score 6? Yes, and he went on to say there isn’t a team
that can stop the Lions offense when they are clicking. Well the Lions’ offense
won’t be on when they visit Soldier Field when the Bears put a whopping on them
like they did Brett Favre one week earlier. Free pick:
Chicago -8.5
New Orleans Saints at Green Bay Packers
Reggie Bush kicked off his Big East Era in style with over 140 yards of total
production and now gets the chance to face a Green Bay defense that should
remind him of most of the defenses he faced in college. With Brees at the helm
and weapons all around him, the road team is the easy choice with Favre yet to
put a point on the board. Free pick: New Orleans -2
Carolina Panthers (-3) at Minnesota Vikings
After an embarrassing loss at home to Atlanta, the Panthers will bounce back on
the road in week two. The Vikings played very well in its first game under Brad
Childress; however expecting Carolina to start the year 0-2 is not likely. Look
for a much more explosive offense with Steve Smith back in the lineup.
Free pick: Carolina -3
New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles
Eli Manning did everything to beat his older brother Peyton last week. Again he
faces another tough test with a rejuvenated Eagles team. Donovan McNabb looked
excellent, throwing three touchdowns in his first game back after rehabbing from
hernia surgery. New York will play well but a win in Philly is easier said than
done. Free pick: Philadelphia -3
Pittsburgh Steelers (-1) at Jacksonville Jaguars
After dismantling the Cowboys last week, the Jags defense will look to do the
same to the defending champs. No one knows who will start at quarterback fro
Pittsburgh, but one thing is for sure, he isn’t likely to get much production
with Jacksonville stuffing pressure down his throat all game long.
Free Pick: Jacksonville +1
