DAILY BASEBALL PICKS
TWINS TAKE ON RANDY
JOHNSON
6/20/08
When we first took a look at the weekends Interleague card, we
thought we might have a pretty deep card for Friday. But as we got
into it, we really didn't come up with anything strong. As will all
sports handicapping, a key part to success, is passing and not
forcing plays. Such is the case Friday. We anticipate finding some
nice spots over the weekend, but not today. Even the play we do have
was borderline.
Twins -110 over D-Backs - We love to go against
Randy Johnson these days. His name alone keeps the price down most
of the time, but he's a shell of his former self. He's 44 years old,
and can't imagine him playing much longer. He held his own and did
well to start the year but the wheels fell off as he has lost 3
starts in a row with an ERA of 7.71. We'd equate it to a great
boxer. A great old boxer. He may be able to go a few rounds with the
current, young champ, but his age will catch up to him as the fight
wears on. For you boxing fans, think Larry Holmes vs Mike Tyson 20
years ago. The Twins have some momentum having won three in a row
and we simply feel it's worth it to play against Randy Johnson
pretty much any time he takes the mound from here forward.
