9/29/10
Florida vs. Alabama Pick - Gators Seek Revenge - HC Urban Meyer knows this week means one thing. It's time for his Florida Gators to do battle with the Alabama Crimson Tide yet again. The last meeting between these two came just a year ago in the SEC Title Game. Both teams were undefeated, but the Crimson Tide rolled on Tim Tebow and company by a score of 32-13.
Penn State vs. Iowa Betting Line and Prediction - The Iowa Hawkeyes were on upset alert two weeks ago when they played Arizona on the road, and it turns out it was for good reason. They got down early and tried to comeback, but ended up losing 34-27. The season is far from over, but every game is a must win from here on out if they want to keep their BCS hopes alive.
Wisconsin vs. Michigan State Pick - This could be the season HC Mark Dantonio has been waiting for all along. The former Ohio State defensive coordinator experienced mild success as the HC of the Cincinnati Bearcats before coming to Michigan State, but this seems like it could be his breakout year.
9/28/10
Stanford vs. Oregon Pick - The Oregon Ducks had a great year in 2009. They earned a trip to the Rose Bowl after winning the Pacific 10 with their final victory coming over Oregon State in the "Civil War" game. It was tough to gauge how much they would fall off this year with the loss of QB Jeremiah Masoli.
Miami vs. Clemson Pick Against the Spread - The Clemson Tigers have an absolute gamer in QB Kyle Parker. The dual threat athlete is also a star baseball player for Clemson. He showed grit to stay in the game during last weeks 27-24 OT loss to Auburn despite clearly being injured.
Texas vs. Oklahoma Analysis - Red River Rivalry - Lots of things are supposed to happen in life, but somehow they don't work out like we thought they would. For example, Texas is supposed to beat UCLA in football. That didn't happen. The Bruins trounced Texas at home by a score of 34-12. Thing's don't get any easier for the Longhorns. They will now play archrival Oklahoma.
Navy vs. Air Force Prediction - The battle for the Commander-In-Chief's Trophy should be a good one this year with all three Service Academies looking like competitors three games into the 2010 season. Navy has been the king in recent years, winning the Trophy 7 straight years including 7 straight wins over Army and 8 straight over Air Force.
9/27
Packers vs. Bears Pick with Betting Trends - The rivalry of rivalries is on as the Green Bay Packers roll into Soldiers Field to take on the Chicago Bears. The Packers started the season with a hard fought victory over the Eagles and then trounced the Bills 34-7. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers stats are good, 38 completions out of 60 attempts.
Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma State Pick - Thursday Night Football - All the talk about Oklahoma State this offseason centered around the fact that they would have a down year. After blasting out of the gate to a 3-0 start they will be met with their first real challenge on Thursday night. That challenge comes in the form of Texas A&M who is also 3-0.
9/24/10
Colts vs. Broncos Pick - This could be a fun game. The Broncos and Colts are both 1-1 and coming off impressive victories. Denver dismantled Seattle 31-14 while the Colts dominated the Giants 38-14. The Broncos offense was rolling last weekend. In an impressive performance, Quarterback Kyle Orton completed 25 of 35.
9/23/10
Miami Hurricanes vs. Pitt Panthers Thursday Night Football - The Pittsburgh Panthers and Miami Hurricanes both hoped for a better start to their year, but they enter their Thursday night showdown with records of 1-1. The Panthers headed out west to start the year and played tough against Utah, but their sophomore QB came up short as the Utes won 27-24 in OT. Miami was looking for revenge against Ohio State...
Titans vs. Giants Betting Trends and Pick - First let's look at the Titans, who started the season with a dominating victory over the Oakland Raiders 38-13. Quarterback Vince Young played extremely well, Chris Johnson ran wild and the defense pushed the Raiders all over the field. They were ready for their next opponent, the Pittsburg Steelers, or so they said.
Cowboys vs, Texans Prediction - The Texans started the season by taking on and defeating the Colts 34-24. This past weekend they visited the Redskins and where trailing 27-10 after 3 quarters. But unlike past Houston teams, these Texans don't fold there tents and go home. They came roaring back and stunned the Skins in overtime 30-27.
9/22/10
Stanford vs. Notre Dame Pick - Brian Kelly was supposed to be the savior of Notre Dame football, but after 3 games his Fighting Irish are a measly 1-2. They had a chance to win both games they lost. They couldn't stop Denard Robinson in the first loss, and they succumbed to a trick play in OT against Michigan State. Fans and alums need to give the guy a break, but the seat at Notre Dame is always hot when not winning.
Oklahoma vs. Cincinnati Free Pick with Analysis - Ever had a really good weekend then felt terrible on Monday morning? That's kind of how fans of the Cincinnati Bearcats feel right about now. They had a wonderful three day weekend (three seasons), but Monday has arrived and the hangover is harsh. They are 1-2 and have lost to two teams which they would have, and in one case, did beat the year before.
NC State vs. Georgia Tech Prediction - Are you familiar with "The Perfect Storm"? No, I'm not talking about some silly movie. I'm talking about the North Carolina State offense. That's what they call themselves. While they are very good, the team they are playing this week might have something to say about that.
West Virginia vs. LSU College Football Pick - Good teams do great things. The West Virginia Mountaineers proved they were a good team by coming back late in the game against Marshall on the road two weeks ago to score an OT win. Marshall was a determined opponent and in state rival. Two weeks later they find themselves traveling to play an SEC team, the LSU Tigers
9/21/10
Alabama vs. Arkansas Pick - Fans of the Arkansas Razorbacks have been waiting since the days of Darren McFadden to return to national prominence. Granted, it hasn't been TOO long, but in the SEC every year seems like 10 when you're not in contention. They will host BCS Champs Alabama in Fayetteville after starting the year a perfect 3-0.
South Carolina vs. Auburn Pick - It's taken some time, but Steve Spurrier has South Carolina football back on the map. The #13 Gamecocks disposed of Furman last week prior to beating SEC rival Georgia at home. They will now travel to play the Auburn Tigers who they last met in 2006. The Tigers won that game 24-17
NFL Week 3 Betting Odds - Dallas (0-2 SU, 0-2 ATS) may be the most disappointing team in the NFC as one of the preseason favorites. The 'Boys go to in-state rival Houston which has a reverse record (2-0 SU, 2-0 ATS). Can Dallas turn around their season as three-point road 'dogs?
9/20/10
Saints vs 49ers Monday Night Matchup - The Niners waltzed into Seattle expecting to put a major beat down on the Hawks. Two hours later it was Niners who were licking their wounds after being manhandled 31-6. The defeat was a surprise to many, quarterback Alex Smith looked uncomfortable all day completing 26 of 45 passes for 225 yards.

College Football Upset of the Week
Northern Illinois vs. Illinois
9/16/10
Hawaii vs. Colorado Pick - Key Release - Colorado has some talent. We know that much. There is just a natural talent gap between these two programs. Hawaii had some good years but those days are long gone. Colorado has the talent but hasn't been able to produce under Dan Hawkins.
9/15/10
UCONN vs. Temple Pick Against the Spread - The UCONN Huskies stepped up to the big time against Michigan in their first game of the year and were quickly smashed back to reality in a 30-10 loss. They bounced back last week taking their frustrations out on Texas Southern, at home, by a score of 62-3. Now, a minor step up the class ladder again, although not to far, to take on Temple on the road.
Bears vs. Cowboys Pick with Analysis - The Bears come into Dallas having escaped with a victory over the Lions 19-14. Quarterback Jay Cutler played very well, completing 23 of 35 passes for 373 yards 2 TD's and 1 interception. The Bears offensive line struggled against the Lions physical front forcing Cutler to run for his life.
Wake Forest vs. Stanford Free Pick - The last time Stanford and Wake Forest met on the football field, the Demon Deacons escaped with a 24-17 win. Stanford went on to have a much better season. They meet this year as undefeated 2-0 teams. The Cardinal delivered a beat down to UCLA, and Wake Forest narrowly edged out Duke last week. Revenge will be on the mind of Stanford who surged to #19 in the rankings this week.
Miss State vs. LSU Odds and Analysis - The LSU Tigers are an impressive 14-1 in home openers. Coach Les Miles has a record of 33-4 against unranked foes. The Tigers have won 10 straight against Mississippi State. They were 6-1 at home in 2009 and 3-2-1 ATS as a home favorite. They were 3-4-1 ATS against SEC opponents last year. The Bulldogs were 0-6 on the road last year and winless ATS.
Steelers vs. Titans Pointspread Pick - This is football...this is a rivalry. Its time for another battle of the north versus the south, not the Civil War mind you, but an intense hard hitting professional football game. Both teams enter the contest at 1-0. The Steelers nipped the Falcons in overtime, while the Titans crushed the Raiders 38-13.
Giants vs. Colts Pick - Peyton vs. Eli - It's the battle of the brothers as the Colts take on the rejuvenated Giants. Indianapolis started the season on a sour note by being outplayed and outhustled by the hungry Houston Texans by the score of 34-24. Peyton Manning did his part to try and stop the Colts from losing by completing 40 of 57 passes for 433 yards. Wide receiver Austin Collie caught 10 balls for 131 yards.
9/14/10
Cincinnati Bearcats vs. NC State Wolfpack Pick - This week's Thursday night ESPN primetime game will feature the spread offense of Butch Jones and the Cincinnati Bearcats (1-1) VS the NC State Wolfpack (2-0). This will be each team's first game against a BCS conference team this season.
Pointspread Favors Iowa by 2 over Arizona - The Iowa Hawkeyes burst on the scene in 2009 with an overall record of 11-2 and a win in the Orange Bowl. Kirk Ferentz team is a perfect 2-0 so far in 2010 with wins over Eastern Illinois and Iowa State. Their first real test of the season will come on the road against a strong Arizona Wildcats team.
Baylor vs. TCU Free Pick and Analysis - This Saturday the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs (TCU) will take on the Baylor Bears in what will be a battle for bragging rights in the state of Texas. TCU comes in to the game ranked fourth in the nation while Baylor will enter the game unranked.
BYU vs Florida State Pointspread Pick - Saturday football fans everywhere will have the pleasure of watching the Brigham Young University Cougars take on the Florida State Seminoles on ESPNU. Both teams are entering the game on a loss. The Seminoles were crushed on the road by Oklahoma. The Cougars were handily defeated by Air Force. Both will be seeking to get back on track.
Odds Favor Nebraska vs. Washington - This week the Nebraska Cornhuskers (2-0) will stroll into Husky Stadium to face the Washington Huskies (1-1) in hopes of continuing a perfect season. So far on the season the Cornhuskers have defeated Western Kentucky and Idaho which aren't exactly what would be considered quality teams. Washington rebounded from a week one loss against Brigham Young University (BYU) to beat Syracuse easily by a score of 41-20.
Clemson vs. Auburn Betting Line and Trends - The Clemson Tigers have something to prove. The last time they traveled to play an SEC foe on the road they were crushed by South Carolina 34-17 as a 3 point favorite. This time they will have to visit the Auburn Tigers. They are a perfect 2-0 with wins over North Texas and Presbyterian. Auburn is also perfect, but has downed tougher foes in Mississippi State, and Arkansas State.
Georgia Tech vs. North Carolina Pick - All the hype going the way of North Carolina before the season started meant they will compete for the ACC. They started off slow in week one by losing to LSU, but that loss can be forgiven due to the absence of several key defenders. They will now take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets who won the ACC in 2009. Both teams need this win to get off on the right foot..
9/13/10
The Black Cat NFL Picks - Monday Night Football - The Black Cat returned to the gridiron this week, in off his first losing year in many and he wasn't bashful with his NFL picks this week. He fired away at 10 selections in all (he makes 100 plays per year) and two of those plays are the two Monday Night games tonight. Will the Black Cat have a winning week?
Florida Gators vs. Tennessee Vols Free Pick - HC Derek Dooley's team was crushed 48-13 at home by the Oregon Ducks last week. The Volunteers didn't have the personnel to keep up with the Ducks. Truth be told, they don't have the players to run with the Gators. The one thing that they do have is pride. This is a rivalry game and the players know that. They are going to try and defend their turf. This is especially true after they failed to do so last week.
Notre Dame vs. Michigan State Pick with Analysis - Spartans seek revenge - It was bound to happen sooner or later. Brian Kelly finally lost a regular season game. He had won 19 straight dating back to his tenure with the Cincinnati Bearcats. The Notre Dame HC rallied the troops to a late comeback attempt that fell short against Michigan last week. They fell 28-24. This week they will take on the Michigan State Spartans in a primetime Saturday night road game.
Cal vs. Nevada Friday Night Pick - Friday night football sends the California Golden Bears to play the Nevada Wolf Pack in a battle of unbeatens. The Wolfpack registered easy wins over Eastern Washington (49-24) and Colorado State (51-6). The Golden Bears crushed UC Davis (52-3), and then vanquished Colorado (52-7). This game matches a strong Pacific 10 team against the second best team in the Western Athletic Conference.
Arkansas Seeks Revenge vs. Georgia - It wasn't as clean as Coach Petrino would've liked, but the Arkansas Razorbacks overwhelmed Louisiana- Monroe 31-7 in week 2 play. The Hogs gained 499 yards of total offense, 400 through the air, despite scoring only 7 points by half time. They have high hopes for the 2010 season and their first big game of the year happens this week against the Georgia Bulldogs
Kansas Jayhawks vs. So Miss Golden Eagles Pick - After an embarrassing loss to North Dakota State in the first week of play, the Kansas Jayhawks shocked most of the college football world by defeating the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 28-25. The win was the first for HC Turner Gill and it snapped an 8 game losing streak. Freshman faces were the difference in the game. QB Jordan Webb made his first collegiate start.
9/11/10
Michigan vs. Notre Dame Preview - Two of the most storied college football programs in the land meet, again, on Saturday when the Notre Dame Fighting Irish host the Michigan Wolverines. While this matchup once held more luster, it pits two 1-0 teams in a huge game for both programs, both of which should be on their way back up the college football Top 20 ladder. Notre Dame opened as a -4.5 favorite and has been bet down to -3.5 as Michigan money comes in.
Oregon Favored over Tennessee - Games pitting schools from different power conferences are not only fun for bragging rights, but also for wagering. Can a run of the mill SEC team hang with a top Pac-10 team? You will be rewarded handsomely if you think so as the Tennessee Volunteers are a 12 point dog to beat the Oregon Ducks.
Georgia vs. South Carolina Betting Preview - 2009 could've gone worse for the Georgia Bulldogs. They finished 8-5 with a big win over Texas A&M in the Independence Bowl. 2010 started off on the right foot with a 55-7 win over Louisiana-Lafayette. They sit at #22 in the AP poll, but could drop from the rankings without a win this week over Steve Spurrier's #25 South Carolina Gamecocks.
South Florida vs. Florida Betting Line and Free Pick - Wow was that REALLY the Florida Gators out there against the Miami Redhawks in week one? Can an Urban Meyer team really make that many mistakes and allow a team that was 1-11 in 2009 to hang around until the 4th quarter? Did they really have just 26 total yards of offense in the final quarter of play? Yes, indeed they did. The offense was horrid, but the defense was strong.
Colorado vs. California Prediction - A glimpse into the PAC-10 Future - This is being called a glimpse into the future by major media outlets as the the Colorado Buffaloes head west to take on future PAC-10 foe California in a game that will go along way towards setting up the rest of the season for both squads. Neither team has lived up to expectations in recent years, particularly Cal who was hyped as a potential BCS Title contender last year.
Iowa State vs. Iowa Prediction - In state rivalries make college football great. The only problem with Iowa vs Iowa State is that it hasn't been much of a rivalry in recent years. The Cyclones haven't scored a TD against the Hawkeyes since 2006. That is a serious drought that they hope to end as 13.5 point underdogs on Saturday. Both teams won their openers in 2010.
Cowboys vs. Redskins Week One NFL Pick - The Cowboys think Super Bowl every year. They are loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, but are they loaded with desire? Quarterback Tony Romo threw for 26 touchdowns last year, and only 9 interceptions. Romo should have another big year, he's a very capable QB who sometimes battle's a bad technique.
Panthers vs. Giants Week 1 NFL Prediction - The Panthers invade New Jersey to take on the G-men. Both teams are coming off disappointing seasons and desperately want to get off to a good start. The Giants have Eli Manning at quarterback who's coming off his best season statistically. Manning threw 27 touchdown passes last year and is rarely called Peyton's little brother anymore.
Bengals vs. Patriots Week One NFL Betting Line and Analysis - Division winners from last year with identical records (10-6) Cincinnati and New England tangle in Foxboro in what could turn out to be a shootout. The visiting Bengals have a couple of pretty good receivers named Owens and Ochocinco and quarterback Carson Palmer who threw for 21 touchdowns last year.
Bears vs. Lions NFL Week 1 Betting Trends - The young Lions seem to be improving. Starting quarterback Matt Stafford begins his 2nd full season in the NFL. He showed enough flashes of ability last year to raise hopes. Calvin Johnson is the number one receiver for the Lions but so called number two Nate Burelson caught 63 passes last year. Running back Jahvid Best is young, elusive and speedy.
49ers vs. Seahawks Week 1 Pick - The Seahawks are another team with a new coach and new direction. Pete Carroll fresh off his dismissal of USC and back in the NFL. His job is to rejuvenate a Seattle squad that has lacked fire the last few years. Quarterback Matt Hasselback will be 35 in September. He has missed 11 games with back problems or other ailments the past couple of seasons and, during that span, thrown five more interceptions than touchdowns.
Packers vs. Eagles Week 1 Prediction - Trends - The Packers start the season on the road against the hot and cold Eagles. The Pack feel that this is their year, with consistent quarterback Aaron Rodgers throwing the ball accurately and a more familiar understanding of their 3-4 defense. Rodgers (30 touchdown passes last year) should have a bit more time in the pocket with an improved offensive line.
Penn State vs. Alabama Analysis - College Football Game of the Week - It's been a crazy last two years for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Two years ago they were defeated by Tim Tebow and the Florida Gators in the SEC Title game before rolling over against Utah in the Sugar Bowl. They came back with a vengeance last year and crushed the Gators en route to a BCS Title win. Defending their title starts in week two with a home game against Joe Paterno's Penn State Nittany Lions who were 11-2 in 2009.
Miami Fla vs. Ohio State Prediction - Don't you just love early season games with huge implications? We got to see Boise State and Virginia Tech throw down in a week one thriller, and in week two we have a rematch of the 2002 Rose Bowl where the Ohio State Buckeyes will host the Miami Hurricanes at Ohio Stadium.
Florida State vs. Oklahoma Free Pick - Great games in this early NCAA football season are plentiful. Week two will pit the Oklahoma Sooners against the Florida State Seminoles. Retired HC Lou Holtz has said several times that he is looking forward to this game more than any other. The former Notre Dame head honcho turned ESPN analyst thinks that FSU QB Christian Ponder is among the best in the country.
Duke vs. Wake Forest Betting Line and Analysis - David Cutcliffe and his Duke Blue Devils hit the road this week to take on Jim Grobe and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in a game that pits two 5 win teams from a year ago against each other. While both teams won 5 games last season, for one team, Duke, that was a good thing. For the other, Wake Forest, that was a major let down.
LSU vs. Vanderbilt Free Pick - LSU travels to take on Vanderbilt this week in a game that saw LSU open as a -10.5 favorite before sportsbooks took some early Vandy money dropping the line to 9.5 in most spots. However, LSU money came in Tuesday afternoon while this was being written and we tend to agree with that move.
9/7/10
Auburn vs. Miss State Pick - ESPN Thursday Night Football - The Mississippi State Bulldogs started their season off very smoothly by smashing the Memphis Tigers 49-7. With 7 starters back on both sides of the ball they have high hopes for their 2010 campaign. HC Dan Mullen will have his hands full this week with the Auburn Tigers. Last years matchup resulted in a 49-24 victory for the Tigers.
UTEP vs. Houston Friday Night Pick - The Houston Cougars host the UTEP miners Friday Night in Houston in a Conference USA matchup that should light up the scoreboard. Houston opened as an 18 point favorite and has been bet up to -19.5. As of this writing early in the week, there is no total posted, but how does 99 sound? That's how many points were scored last year when these two met. Hold on to your hat!
West Virginia vs. Marshall Prediction - Things didn't go the way Doc Holliday wanted in the first week of play, but they may get better in the second. In his first game as head coach of the Marshall Thundering Herd, Holliday watched his team get pulverized by the Ohio State Buckeyes 45-7. Now his new team will take on his old one; the West Virginia Mountaineers. Bill Stewart and Co. started the year with a business like 31-0 win over Coastal Carolina.
9/6/10
Boise State vs. Virginia Tech - In case you haven't heard yet, the Boise State Broncos are bringing back 21 starters from last year's undefeated Fiesta Bowl winning team. They are going to be VERY good. Last year they dispatched Oregon in the season opener. That would prove to be the marquee win before downing TCU to end the 2009 season. This year they will start their quest for a BCS Title against a wily Virginia Tech team.
9/5/10
Early College Football Line Moves - Keep your Eye on the Sky - College Football lines move for a variety of reasons. At many times, a bettor will know the reason of a move and can take advantage of it. Other times, only a select few know what's really going on with movement on a particular game. If you're objective is to take advantage of line moves early in the week, you have to be very careful.
Tulsa vs. East Carolina Prediction - For East Carolina, the cupboard is bare. Half the players that were there a year ago are history. They return just 2 players on defense and 4 on offense, and they lose the coach that was responsible for their recent success, Skip Holtz. Tulsa on the other hand, after winning, 8, 10, and 11 games for 3 straight years, had a very disappointing 2009 going 5-7. Improvement is expected in 2010.
