  • FYI betting hockey

its a known fact over the last several years
that the books are BIG losers to DOG/UNDER
hockey bettors. the MIRAGE has been dealing
a straight money line now for 2 seasons.
the STARDUST started the season dealing a
CANADIAN LINE and only lasted 2 days. the
HILTON switched to a straight ML on mon dec 7. if youre an overall FAV bettor in hockey,
its to your advantage to find an "out" who deals a straight ML. there have been 62 TIES
so far this season in hockey, the worse case
scenario being if you were a NICKEL player
and layed the HOOK and layed or took the price on these 62 games, you would have LOST OVER 40,000!!! finally, if there are a few of you out there that are
still playing into a SPLIT LINE, make an
appointment first thing monday morning to
    have your head examined.

There are not many books left there that are still sodomizing their customers with a SLIT LINE. Canbet, Grand Prix, Gibralter are a few that I am aware of. Can any others be added to this list? If people would boycot these books and the others that offer split lines only, maybe we will see a stop to the split line. A built in 6.5% edge for the house makes it very rare to find any value in a split line. The split line is on the way out fortunately. Lets speed up the process by closing our accounts with split line books until they change. Thanks again Bettorsworld. Because of this site we have a voice and can make change.

Last year, the KING of the SODOMITES was PARADISE CASINO in Curacao. They had the infamous split+40 line. BOS-1 -1.20//TOR+1/2 -1.20 ov5 -1.20 und5 -1.20
Obviously closed my account when this scam began. Don't know if they're still ripping off their customers. Right behind them is SANDS of the CARIBBEAN which presently does the same thing as PARADISE except it is split+20 cents. Unfortunately for the suckers, er,players, they have a split line on totals!! Example:
BOS/TOR ov5 1/2 -1.10 und5 -1.10. They pulled the same stunt on BASEBALL sides and totals!
The only other hockey split that I am aware of is at IGN, or SPORTBET.COM. That is the normal split line at even money and regular 20-cent totals.

I'm not suggesting anyone play into a book that has just a split line but it often happens that the books with split lines have a better line than the books carrying a Canadian line - at least when the line is the classical split line where each side returns even money. No one can can beat a split line when the book is asking for 110 to win 100 or horror of horrors, 120 to win a 100.

To give an example, say Team A goes off at +1/2 a goal, -115 at a book with a Canadian line. It's opponent, Team B, is then going to be -1/2 -105. (assumong a 20 cent line).

What is the book with the split line going to do. There are only two real options open to them. They can quote Team A at +1/2 +100 or they can quote Team A at +0 +100. In the former case Team A is a much better bet at the book with the split line than it is at the book with the Canadian line. In the latter case, Team B which has the line -1/2 +100 at the split-line book, is a slightly better bet than it is at the book with the Canadian line.

When you have a stable of booka and can shop around, you can often find much bigger discrepanciues than this. I maintain an account at Island Casino which has only the split line because of this. I don't make a lot of bets there but occasionally you can find real bargains.

I agree with you, 'MUTE. I like having a few split lines(even money, of course) for the very same reason. Especially if you have a guy who doesn't have a clue about ice. Bargains abound!!

              Tim

Got a chuckle out of your profile.

I looked because I was wondering if you were from Canada - most ice people seem to be.

No, I'm a U.S. citizen. As a kid, had some friends that were big hockey lovers and they got me into it, playing street hockey, attending games and the like. As Marv Albert used to say on the program National Hockey League Action, "it's the world's FASTEST sport!"

Getting back to OLD MAN's original post. He mentions that if you're a FAV player in hockey, look for straight moneylines. That's true - but you SHOULD NOT be a FAV player in hockey. There is no value there. I don't know much about football but in hockey, hoops and baseball, the favourite is always overbet. This is most true in hockey where if you consistently bet favourites you can expect to lose money much faster than the flip-a-coin rate of $5 per $100 bet.

I probably shouldn't be saying this because I invariably bet dogs and the more people that bet on favourites, the better the lines that I get. But I doubt this post will change the minds of very many people.

                      mute

average price of my hockey bets across several leagues this season was actually around the -115 to -120 mark

                      was way up

                      what's the problem?
