  • Pistons at Hornets preview

Detroit Pistons (18-11) at New Orleans Hornets (12-19)
    8:05 pm Eastern
    TNT

    Opening Line: Pistons - 7

The Detroit Pistons and New Orleans Hornets will meet tonight in Oklahoma City and neither team will have its starting point guard. The Hornets will be playing without their leading scorer Chris Paul for the fifth straight game while the Pistons will be without their 2nd leading scorer Chauncey Billups who strained a calf muscle last Friday in a loss to Indiana.
SBG Global reports that the gambling public feels the Pistons are still the better team laying the points.

The Pistons have lost three straight games. They haven't lost four straight since Jan of 2005. Detroit is allowing 117.3 points during the three game losing streak; although that number is skewed by the 151-145 triple overtime loss at New York on Dec. 27. Detroit also hasn’t shot very well during the streak and Rasheed Wallace has been cold lately. "I couldn't put a rock in the ocean," said Wallace. "I'm not worried about it. You just go back and get them the next time." Detroit will have to rely on Richard Hamilton, who is averaging 34.7 points in his last three games. That is above his team-leading average of 22.4 per game.

Detroit is an 7.5 point favorite with a total of 177 at
    SBG Global.

New Orleans fell to 1-3 without Chris Paul in the lineup as they lost to Golden State on Tuesday. That was the team's 16th defeat in 20 games. The Hornets have been without starters Paul, David West and Peja Stojakovic. The Hornets average an NBA-low 90.2 points per game. Rasual Butler is averaging a career-high 11.0 points a game since Paul has been out. He scored 30 point on Tuesday.

The Pistons are 7-20-2 ATS in their last 29 games as a road favorite. They are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The road team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between the two teams.

The Hornets are 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 vs. the Eastern Conference. They are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. the Central. The Hornets are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a home underdog. They are 0-8 ATS in their last 8 Thursday games.

The Under is 17-4 in the Pistons last 21 road games and it is 22-6 in their last 28 Thursday games. The Under is 7-2 in the Pistons last 9 games as a road favorite. The Over is 4-0 in the Hornets last 4 Thursday games. The Over is 5-1 in the Hornets last 6 vs. the Central. The Over is 7-3 in the Hornets last 10 games as a home underdog.
