  • ILLINOIS -8.0 vs Iowa

The Hawkees come knocking on the floor
at Illinois as a 8.0 dog...

    Intelligence Report on Iowa....

Iowa plays a very quick tempo game
ranked # 2 in the big ten.... Solid Free Throw
    shooting team at 77%....

Two Players who control the action for Iowa
Huluska (3 pt land) and Smith)

Very Poor Rebounding team, which aligns itself
to the the up tempo play... A young team that
some say play poor on the road, but a win last
Thursday at Michigan State has turned some heads....

Can Iowa's young players keep their Heads on tight
and not be intimated by Illinois Orange Crush crowd
to steal one in Illinois, maybe.....

    A Look at Illinois

Illinois is in a very dangerous spot as a team, dont win
and a NIT bid is inevitable.

Last game vs OSU Illinois shot 24% from the floor...
I dont think I have seen that in a decade, and dont expect
    that to repeat itself.

Injuries continue to plague Illinois, Jamar Smith
(Illinois only true outside threat) was held out of
practice today due to an ankle injury. Jamar is nursing
a high ankle sprain injury all year, only this ankle
    is the opposite one.....

Chester Fraizer another guard for Illinois also
is nursing a new injury a slight groin pull.....

(Sure makes one wonder where all the
    conditioning went for these players)

    THE CARPETS FLOOR VIEW

I see a Defensive Struggle, low scoring game
with Iowa staying close to the end.....

    Iowa + 8.0

Tough game to cap. Just a note, Iowa's win against Michigan State was at home. They had a good lead but one of Iowa's downfalls that they may have put behind them agianst MSU is putting teams away at the end.

They played a tough early schedule where they held good leads and lost at the end.

8 may be juts a bit too many here especially if Huluska comes out firing and hitting his shots. very streaky shooter.

But by watching Illinois completely suck ass against OSU on Saturday, I'd lean to Iowa as well.

      Carpet,

Thanks as always for your detailed insight. I do agree with Woodee that Iowa is solid at home. But getting 9 points, that's too much to pass up! I can see the Illini winning, but not by DD.

Iowa stays close as predicted and Illinois wins
the most important game of the season for this team

Iowa shot 77% from the free throw line (true to their game)
          and 55% from 3 point land ...

          Illinois wins one......again not covering.....

The next 8 games look for an Illinois Run
(why am i saying that.....just feel it)

          Good Luck all
