    Super Bowl XLI

Chicago Bears (15-3) vs. Indianapolis Colts (15-4)

    Sunday - 6:20 pm Eastern

    CBS

SBG Global Opening Line: Colts - 7

The Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning have finally reached the Super Bowl and they are 7 point favorites to win it. The Colts actually finished with a worse record than the Bears but are still a touchdown favorite. The perception of Peyton Manning against Rex Grossman seems to have bettors leaning towards the Colts. Reports out of
SBG Global tell us that there have been more bets on the Bears with the points but more money placed on the Colts. SBG Globalalso reports that the top two Super Bowl XLI proposition wagers are; Peyton winning the MVP and the Colts punting on the first possession.

The Colts and Manning seemed unlikely to make it to the Super Bowl again this year after Indianapolis lost four of its last seven games following a 9-0 start. The Colts didn’t even get a first round bye in the playoffs. The Colts though started to play defense in the playoffs and then Manning came through in the AFC Championship game against New England. Manning rallied the team from a 21-3 deficit for the biggest comeback in conference championship game history. He threw for 349 yards and a touchdown. He now has to face the NFC’s top rated defense in Chicago and linebacker Brian Urlacher.

Chicago is playing in its first Super Bowl since 1986. They are coming off a dominant performance in the NFC Championship game where they pulled away from the New Orleans Saints 39-14. The Bears won in a rout and the Colts had to struggle to win, yet the Colts are still 7 point favorites. The two head coaches in this game are close friends and both are pleased each other is here. Lovie Smith has the Bears in the Super Bowl in just his third year, while Tony Dungy is reaching the Super Bowl in his 11th season as a head coach. Smith and defensive coach Ron Rivera will need to come up with a way to slow down Manning and Colts. The last time the two teams met the Colts rolled to a 41-10 rout. That was on Nov. 21, 2004, when Manning threw four touchdown passes. The Bears were without Brian Urlacher who was injured and didn't play in the game.

Indianapolis is a 7 point favorite with a total of 48 at

On the other side of the ball is often criticized Rex Grossman who has come up with enough big plays to get Chicago into the Super Bowl. In the conference championship game, Grossman was just 11-of-26 for 144 yards, but he didn’t turn the ball over and he made plays when needed. The X-factor in this game could be Devin Hester who is a threat to turn any punt or kickoff into a touchdown. Hester scored three touchdowns on punt returns this season, and averaged 26.4 yards per kickoff return - fifth in the NFL. Both teams also have clutch kickers. The Colts have Adam Vinatieri who is the best postseason kicker of all time. He has lived up to that reputation this season going 11-for-11 on field goals. The Bears have Robbie Gould who was nearly automatic all season.

The Colts are 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. The Colts are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 playoff games as a favorite. The Colts are 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 games on Grass.

The Bears are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

The Under is 4-1 in the Colts last 5 playoff games. The Over is 8-3 in the Colts last 11 games on Grass. The Under is 5-2 in the Colts last 7 vs. a team with a winning record. The Over is 4-0 in the Bears last 4 playoff games. The Over is 13-3 in the Bears last 16 games on Grass. The Over is 16-5-1 in the Bears last 22 games overall. The Under is 39-18-2 in the Bears last 59 games as an underdog.
