Indiana +3.0 over Illinois (Money line if under 3.0)
Indiana comes in 3-0 with a 2-0 ATS record…Their opponents certainly cannot be classified as formidable, but even against the weak schedule so far, they have looked very poised, disciplined and in sync….They are 3-1 ATS versus Indiana in their last 4 meetings and 4-1 in their last 5 when on their home field. They were the youngest team in the Big 10 last year starting 13 redshirt freshman and still managed to pull off 7 wins. They now return 16 starters who have that extra years experience. All 5 of their running backs and 5 of their 6 wide receivers return along with their place kicker who was 12/15 last season and 2 game winning field goals.
Illinois opened with a loss to Missouri and then beat up on W. Illinois and Syracuse both very weak teams…They will have revenge on their minds having been upset by Indy last year 34-32 as a 8 point home favorite. These two are dead even in rushing offense statistically with both of them averaging 258.0 rushing yards. Indiana has a edge in passing offense 219.0 to 189.7 and they have the defensive edge against the run 65.3 to Illinois 71.3…Illinois is –3.0 in turnovers while Indiana is +6.0….I doubt this will be a blowout by either team, but getting points at home is too hard to pass up…
This is a good money line bet at +$1.25….If this line drops to under 3.0 I will definitely take the money, the 3 points could make a difference here though…Place kicking could be a big factor in this game and Indiana has the best of that…..
