  • IOWA - 3.5 vs ILLINOIS

Iowa opens a 3.5 chalk at home early

    A quick glance.......

Iowa is a wounded Dog, the worst kind
    to play with.....

Indiana whopped Iowa Good by 18
a team Illinois beat at Indiana

Illinois runs the spread Offense and
from the looks of things Iowa doesnt
contain runs to the outside at all...

Again look for Mendenhall of Illinois to
    have a big game.....

Iowa gave up 280 yards rushing to Penn
    State this Saturday........

There aint no way in Hell, Iowa stops
    Illinois ground game......

The big Question is How will Illinois
handle the pressure on the road, cause it
sure seems Iowa is in a Do or Die situation
    as a Program...........

    My early lean is Illinois.........

    Still researching Illinois Injuries
from the Wisky game, More to follow

Man, that +3.5 sounds too good to be true. Trap is right. Iowa had a couple key injuries going into the Penn St. game. Not sure if they are healthier this week or not.

The way Iowa has looked and the way Illinois is playing, its hard not to jump all over Illinois. I don't think Iowa can stop them at all and Iowa's offense is down-right pathetic. Their QB Christensen is not good. Probably one of the worst Iowa qb's in recent memory.

I was on Iowa this week at PSU andf they showed signs of life but ended up losing 27-7.

On paper, Illinois all the way, but this linbe looks tricky and Iowa City is a VERY tough place to play. I may have to seriously look at Iowa with the points but I will wait until the line moves their way even more. I see it possibly hitting 4 soon. But if there is a trap line, this is it with Illinois.

Will watch the local paper, and add anything I can. Its a huge rilvary around here and there will be tons of press during the week.

As you can see from my username, I am a Hawkeye fan, so please use that as you may in terms of bias...

The spread on the Iowa-Illinois game is very mystifying to not only me, but many of my fellow Hawkeye fans. Iowa, with embarrassment to me, has looked absolutely horrible this year. If Iowa plays Illinois the way they have played most of their games this year, Iowa will take a beating, by 2 TDs in the very least.

The only thing I warn is that Iowa still competes better at home; with exception to the Indiana game; however, Illinois is a much bigger game to Iowa and its fans than Indiana. All I am saying is be careful with this spread, as those who created it must know something...

              The Carpets Final Floor View

Illinois remains a 3.5 chalk heading in to Iowa...

At first glance this game for Illinois looked
like a trap, perhaps a look ahead game
with Michigan coming up next week.

After careful review I have determined
this is not the case. After last weeks win over
Wisky, coach Zook told his team they had Monday
off to celebrate, the team would have none of that
and practiced much to the delight of the coach
              Monday 7am......

              A Look at the Hawkeyes...........

Strength........Iowa takes very good care of
the ball (Best in the Big 10 at +6)

              Weakness

LAST or next to Last in ALL 11 Stats in the
              Big 10,
              Points Per Game
              Pass Offense
              Rush Offense
              Total 1st Downs
              Total Offense
              3rd Down Conversions
and Sacks allowed......to name a few...

Iowa is a Team riddeled with Injuries on both
              sides of the Ball.

The Hawkees are 30th in the Country
vs the Run Offense allowing 113 yards per game
(KEY STAT vs Illinois Run Offense)

              A LOOK AT ILLINOIS

Illinois enters the game with all
              starters playing....

Illinois Run Offensive game ranks 6th in
              the Nation at 261 pg.

Running Back MENDENHALL (remember that name)
is moving into the National Spot Light as
              a Top Quality Running Back...

Mendenhall is a Beast averaging 6.8 yards
per carry, thats a # 4 National rank on Yards
Per carry >>>>Very very impressive considering
doing it againt Penn State, Wisconsin, etc...

The Final Call from the Floor of the Carpet

Iowa will stack the Box 8 Deep to stop
the run (no team has done that yet)....
Iowa will also bring the Blitz to disrupt
              Illinois 2 Back Option

And without Iowa having LB Klinkborg (Iowa)
Illinois will run the two back option play
              to death.

Illinois will play ball control and run the
              ball and the clock...

A Hard fought game, in Illinois players
minds the toughest to date, this will be a game...

              The Carpets pick ILLINOIS 24-13

Quote of the game Iowa Coach Ferentz

Dramatic changes in the way we do things or
what we do----dont expect that to change.
Just like the way our team plays, dont expect that
              to change overnight......

This coming from a guy who makes 2.8m a year
              today......

              Good Luck all

                    Hawks,

Appreciate your feed back, the line is 4

Yes Iowa tough at home ....thats a give me
thats why the book gave 3 charity points...

We are looking at 2 programs, each seem
to be going in opposite directions...

If Illinois dont win this game vs Iowa
Ron Zooks coaching ability will be the spot light
once again....If he does win the spot light burns
                    a little dimmer.....

After all review of the game, I still say
                    Illinois by 10

What a difference 2 years makes................

Sorry to all who jumped onto the Carpet
                      for this game....

It aint often I am hit from blind side although
I had a bad feeling about this game....

Looks like Illinois is back to the drawing
board and out of the top 25

                      Michigan up next

                      More to follow

Illinois doesn`t show up for tough road games. The paper tiger exposes itself.

I watched so much college football I cant remember if this was the game, but didnt Illinois stop Iowa on a 3rd down forcing a punting situation and then accept a penalty to allow them another 3rd and about 25 (which they converted)?

any coach stupid enough to allow this needs his balls beaten off

Yes it was Hart attack...THE SAME PLAY

There are those that continue to refer to the
Illinois Team as a Paper Tiger.....

The real Paper Tiger is LSU, not this young
Illini team, they are work in progress.....

Michigan coming up next, and the Wolverines
and Hart seem to have got their game back
                            together......

Illinois over looked Iowa knowing this game
                            was coming

Injuries to Arreilious Benn is a concern
of Illinois, will continue to monitor this....

Now ranked 28th the Big Ten Collides
next Saturday Night Under the Lights
