100 Days Left

Ok, those of you who have been around the past 4 years, you already know the deal.

There will be LOTS of questions to be resolved in the 2008 College Football Game of the Week.

1. Will Whatnot be able to repeat his championship (no one has EVER repeated)?
2. Will MasterCapper, Lucky L, Esedink or Krc make a comeback?
3. Will Theboys, Natty, or Wildsamoan re enter the GAME?
4. Will Heart Attack bitch and moan about the contest rules again this year?
5. Will Xbigpappa Finally win HIS contest?
6. Will Jeff come up with the $100,000. prize money for the contest winner?

I think it would be cool to pick more games since the season is so short. Maybe pick 2 a week or something? And maybe include some weekday games? I don't know....just throwing some ideas out

My reasoning is that the more games you put out there the more opportunity there is to LOSE money, so if you post YOUR BEST pic, its more likely to earn the followers money. I think LESS is better for those who are actually putting HARD cold cash on plays in this contest.

Well, that can certainly be true, but there are so many games to choose from, unlike the pros. In college sometimes you have more than one you really like , but you can only go with one. So sometimes you choose the wrong one. This would give you a chance to at least split. Plus, sometimes there really isn't one 'best pick'. I'm just throwing that out for some new ideas....no big problem with how it currently works as AFAIC.

Also, its less painfull in grading 1 play per contestant......bigger chance for drama with an increase in pics to score.

50 Days till Kick-off of the 2008 College Game of the Week Contest!!!!!!!!

As promised, here are the rules for the contest. Please study them so there will be NO DRAMA this season!

The COLLEGE FOOTBALL game of the week handicapping contest is just like the NFL game of the week contest. The contest is simple. Pick ONE COLLEGE FOOTBALL game per week, against the spread. The winner is the contestant with the most wins at the end of the year.

This contest is held in our main Bookies Hell posting forum. Picks are posted in the appropriate thread each week, and standings are generally posted on Tuesdays.

This contest is not only popular to participate in, but also very popular among those looking for quality free picks. Like the NFL contest, the reason for this is very simple. There are some great handicappers in this contest, and each week, you're getting their very best play.


Official Rules:

1. Players in this contest will post one pick per week using the line listed in the respective Weekend edition of the USA today…..SIDES ONLY. If more than one pick is posted the first pick will be used. Editing picks will not be allowed. Once your pick is posted it is official. Saturday games ONLY!!!!!

2. Sides ONLY!!! Picks MUST be posted by 11:00am (EST) on Game day Saturday. NO EXCEPTIONS !

3. The contest will run from Aug 30th (Labor Day Weekend) thru Nov 22th. Any tie breaker will be decided by the SEC championship game in Atlanta on Dec 2nd.

4. Wins, loses and ties will be recorded and posted on the following Tuesday.

5. Not posting a pick will be counted as a loss.

6. Miss any combination of Three (3) Weeks of not posting a pick and you are OUT of the contest.

7. Players will "NOT" be allowed in after week #2.

9. If you come in on week #2, week #1 will be counted as a loss.

I forgot about this when you were asking for suggestions. It really sucks having to use the Friday line for several reasons.
1 ) By Friday, the line has already been skewed by both the public and the sharps so we're getting the worst value on many teams. We start researching early and find a good one and by Friday it's no longer a good one so we have to settle for a lessor pick.
2 ) With the Friday line, many contestants will wait until Saturday to post their pick giving people coming to the website to look for picks a short time frame to get their bets in.
3 ) All of the big name contests use the opening lines I believe. And anyone making a living isn't going to be betting the closing lines. It makes more sense to use the opening lines, or at least the Monday morning lines.

There are probably lots of websites you could use that would have the opening, or early lines. Just a thought.
