  • Fixing college football

    Veterans Day...sitting home bored.

    Here are my suggestions.

    Regular Season:
    12 Game (all teams)
    Only 1 bye week
    Eliminate conference chanpionships
    8 Games within Conference (4 home / 4 road)
4 Games out of Conference (4 home / 4 road)

Random scheduling (Teams are put in a bucket based on previos year)
    (Top teams) 1st Tier Bucket
    2nd tier bucket
    3rd tier bucket
    (Bottom teams) 4th tier bucket

Random draw from each bucket (2 home / 2 road)
Makes the schedule fair..not perfect..but fair.
Think of the TV rating drawing for the schedule.

    (Bowl Season)
    Seed 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 (5 vs 6 / 7 vs 8) Rotate bowls who gets 1 vs 4
    Rose
    Orange
    Sugar
    Cotton
Keep all the remaining bowl games to keep tradition.

    Add: Bowl Championship Game
    Must win previous bowl game
It's pretty much a 4 team playoff with an option of a Bowl comittee to select the final match-up including taking a 5-8 seed if they win impressively)

Not perfect, but should keep both worlds happy...keeping a bowl system and
instuituting a small playoff system. Also teams don't have the option to schedule cream puffs in the regular season and it gives a better gauge who has the stronger confence if they play more games out of conference.

Just some quick thoughts...alot of logistics scheduling a regular season.
A different thought for the regular season non-conference games.

Yes I would like to see 8 team playoff...but baby steps for now.
Working...
