17-3 Suprising Illini travel to the frozen tundra
of Minnesota to play the 17-3 Gophers.
Illinois comes into this game with a 19th
ranking, and Minny also sports a 24th ranking in
another poll.
The Barn is a very unique court to play on,
it is a elevated court one of only 3 in the country
and it is very difficult to adjust to as a visitor.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE GOPHERS
Coach Tubby Smith has done a great job
with this team of young studs who can play ball.
They play 11 deep, a very athletic group
of players, lead by Ralph Sampson the third,
(Yes that is Ralph Sampsons son)
A team that launched to a 16-1 record
Then they played Purdue at home and lost
72-60 a team that plays defense. The Gophers then
traveled to Northwestern and got smacked again
by a team that plays defense.
Last game vs Indiana (237 power rank)
Minny squeeked by with a 4 point win.
The Gophers seem also to be a very 2nd half team
as they are always coming from behind in games.
