A sportsbook of mine is still offering divisional odds in their Futures Odds
Here's my breakdown of available divisional wagers with 7 weeks to go:
AFC East (NE, lots of chalk but I would be stunned if they lost 2 games rest of season and NYJ runs table)
• New England -625: Has tie breaker over Jets. Lost to Buffalo. Remaining tough games: vs. Buf. All games except for Buffalo are against teams under .500.
• NY Jets +600: Needs help. Must pick up 2 games against NE or hope for a 3 way tie for 1st and beat Buf and Buf beat NE to go to tie breaker 2. Remaining tough games: vs. Buf, vs. NYG
• Buffalo +800: Must beat NE to have tie breaker. On a skid and have tough road games @ NYJ, @ SD, @ NE.
• Miami +25000: Not wasting time
AFC West (OAK +150, if Run DMC comes back healthy and Palmer starts to connect, they should be able to hold off SD, tougher games are at home….that the edge I give them)
• San Diego +125: Current 4 game losing streak: Tough schedule to end season: @ CHI, BUF, BAL, @ DET, @ OAK. Already 1 game back, I cannot see them running the table. Dig deeper if they beat OAK on final game and are tied for division. If they are tied after the SD beats OAK, OAK will have 3 losses in division and lose tie breaker
• Oakland +150: Currently leads division and has tie breaker over SD. Tough schedule remaining, but 3 of 4 tough games are home: CHI, @GB, DET, SD
• Denver +600: Teams are going to figure out how to contain Tebow’s running. Brutal schedule remains: NYJ, @ SD, CHI, NE, @ BUF
• Kansas City +750: Injuries to QB RB kills their season
AFC North (BAL +125, I’ll take the strange longer odds as they draw even w/ PIT after this week and has tiebreaker over PIT)
• Pittsburgh +100: Odd odds here, BAL has tie breaker over PIT w/ 2 wins. Super cupcake city remains on schedule: KC, CLE 2x, CIN, STL. Tough game is @ SF
• Baltimore +125: Beat PIT twice. Yes, lost to bad teams, but cupcake city on remaining schedule. CLE twice, INDY, CIN twice (unfortunately I’m not giving CIN credit as Dalton will be made to look bad by BAL’s D) Tough games are: SF and @ SD
• Cleveland +25000: Pointless
• Cincinnati +600: Inexperience will catch up when they play PIT again and BAL 2x
NFC East (DAL +150 based on easier schedule)
• NY Giants -111: Wow, meat grinder of a schedule remains!!! After PHI it’s @ NO, GB, DAL 2x, @ NYJ. Only WAS and PHI look easy. 1 game lead on DAL.
• Dallas +150: Next 3 weeks s/b easy: WAS, MIA @AZ. Might have outright lead in division before playing NYG 2x then @ TB and PHI.
• Philadelphia +500: How can they win the division, let alone get to .500
• Washington +6600: Bad team
NFC South (NO based upon tiebreakers)
• New Orleans -500: 4 of 6 at home (NYG, DET, ATL, CAR) @MN, @ TEN. I do not see NO losing 3 of 6.
• Atlanta +333: Mike Smith made it tough on this team to win the division with the loss last week to NO. 3 easy home games (TN, MN, JAX). Plays each divisional team (@CAR, @NO, TB, revenge for L to TB) and @ HOU who is still going strong and now w/o QB Schaub. Bottom line, must win all 3 divisional games. If still tied w/ NO the tie breaker then is then common games:
NO 4-1: CHI (W), GB (L), DET, MN, IND (W), JAX (W), HOU (W), TN
ATL 2-2: CHI (L), GB (L), DET (W), MN, IND (W), TN, HOU, JAX
ATL must win out
• Tampa Bay +2000: On a 3 game skid which will become 4 after @GB. TB will be 3 back of NO and split against NO. Still has CAR 2x, DAL, @ ATL, needs major help (NO to lose 3 games)!!
• Carolina +15000: Must win them all and still pick up 4 games on NO…not going to happen
Parlayed the 5 and then a small wager on the top 4 and ATL instead of NO
