  • Tuesday MLB...Brewers at Cardinals

    8.10pm ET
Milwaukee Brewers @ St Louis Cardinals

We'll recommend another Over tonight as the St Louis Cardinals look to level their series against the Milwaukee Brewers.

These teams have gone Over the total in seven of their eight games at Busch Stadium since the start of last season and we expect that trend to continue tonight.

The Brewers got the Opening Day victory Monday as both starters struggled and the Cardinals played below-average defense. The 14 runs scored went well over the posted total of 9. As we mentioned in yesterday's newsletter we're always looking for solid Over plays in the opening few days of the MLB season as hitters tend to be a lot closer to their best than pitchers in their first outing.

Both Brewers ace Ben Sheets and the Cardinals Matt Morris were shaky yesterday. Morris gave up five earned runs in six innings and three of the five batters he walked ended up scoring. Sheets surrendered three earned runs on five hits and issued three walks in just 3 1/3 innings.
"I didn't locate at all," Sheets said. "That seemed to be the theme for everybody today."

The Over cashed in seven of the nine Opening Day games Monday.

Neither of tonight's starters boast numbers that deter us from expecting runs to be scored tonight. Doug Davis is 28-29 lifetime with a 4.79 ERA while Jason Marquis is 14-15 with a 4.45 ERA. It's worth noting that the Cardinals faced left-handed starters 70 times last season and the Over hit at a 60% clip (42-28) in these games.

These teams played seven times at Busch Stadium last season and those contests saw 13, 13, 11, 13, 10, 7 and 20 runs scored which is an average of 12.4 runs per game. Together with last night's 14 runs that means just one of the last eight match-up's between these teams in St Louis would have gone Under tonight's total of 10.

We'll recommend the Over again tonight with confidence.

    Recommended Play: Over 10

I was on it too. nice call.

too bad the Cards can't beat the stinkin Brewers.

I like the cards at a steep -190 today. Don't think they will get swept in the first series at home. Woody is also on the mound to stop the bleeding.
