  • Tuesday MLB...Cubs at Astros

    8.05 PM ET
    CHICAGO CUBS (25 - 18) at HOUSTON (24 - 20)
Carlos Zambrano (R) vs. Roy Oswalt (R)

The Houston Astros have dropped a season-high five straight games and we're forecasting the Chicago Cubs to continue their misery tonight.

The Cubs have won half of their games at Houston the last three seasons and we consider them at least a 50% chance of winning tonight so to be getting +110 offers excellent value.

Chicago have a better road record this season (12-9, +1.6 units) than Houston at home (12-11, -8.4 units).

The Cubbies have won their last four on the road by a total of 24 runs to 11 and tonight send the dominant Carlos Zambrano to the mound. The 6'5 right-hander is off to a stellar start to the season at 4-1 with a miniscule 2.08 ERA and 0.92 WHIP. He ranks third in the NL for ERA, WHIP and BAA and fifth in winning percentage. He allowed three earned runs in his last outing but prior to that had gone three straight starts and 24 innings without conceding a single earned run.

The Cubs have won Zambrano's last five starts against the Astros and lifetime against Houston he is 3-2 with an ERA of 2.79 and a WHIP of 1.076.

Houston counter with Roy Oswalt who has allowed at least three earned runs in each of his last five starts including five in both of his last two outings. He is 4-2 lifetime against the Cubs with an ERA of 3.56 and a WHIP of 1.186. More importantly though is the respective team records of tonight's starter's. The Cubs are 5-2 (+3.4 units) when Zambrano starts against Houston, while the Astros are just 4-5 (-2.9 units) when Oswalt faces Chicago.

The Astros are basically break-even this season against teams with a winning record (12-9, -0.7 units) but the Cubs are a very profitable 15-5, +8.4 units.

Take the Cubs and the value tonight.

    Recommended Play: Chicago Cubs +110
