  • NCAA Week 2 - VT / Duke

Virginia Tech - 20.5 vs Duke

    VT O vs Duke D

VT seems to win the match up battle across the board, as is expected, but can they cover the number? The line match up is probably the best place for Duke to make noise b/c VT has the least amount of experience here. However, VT presents a much better athlete, holes will be big for the RBs, Vick will dazzel as he will have time to pass and room to run. Bailey and Dewan (LBs for Duke) seem to be the most athletic of the D, and may fill gaps quicky. Can Vick throw? He didn't make mistakes last weekend, but he didn't do much either, granted NCSt may have the best D in the country. This O didn't get to show what it could do last weekend b/c the Wolfpack was able to answer. Duke will wish the was a run rule in college football.

    Duke O vs VT D

If TOs are a problem the last thing you want to see is VT. The Duke front line has a very tough test and these kids are not experienced. However, is the Wolfpack a offensive showcase? VT gave them alot of yards (438, 311 passing). Duke's QB, Schneider may be able to learn something from the tape, cut back on the turnovers, and actually throw up some yards against the Hokies, although the jury is still out on the receivers. The RBs are experienced, but face a national force run stopping unit. A fresh O line will have trouble opening holes. The VT Defense may feel they have a little egg on thier face, and had the "running into the kicker" penalty not been trown at the end of the NCSt game VT may have likely lost the game. The Hokie D will tee off, and will be in the back field most of the day, the D-backs must make plays as Schneider will be under alot of pressure and passes may be off. If there was a 3 "alligator" count I think Duke could actually make this interesting, with the D-line busting through it will not be.

VT dominates as the D and O show off and go 2-0 in the ACC.
