  • ncaa week five

    best bets (1-3) (-6.90 units)
    strong plays (7-6) (+0.80 units)
    regular plays (7-12) (-6.20 units)

    overall (15-21) (-12.30 units)

really bad week last week going (2-7) (-12.30 units), losing my best bet and going 0-4 in my strong plays. was even going into the week, but lost just about everything. I still feel good about college football though as i know i can pick winners.

    THURSDAY GAME

air force +4 vs colorado state (regular play)................so far this week in the tuesday and wednesday games, we have had the favs blow away the dogs, this one belongs to the dog. no doubt air force can win this game. i am going with the team that can run the ball and control the clock getting points. real good chance of an outright win here, but i am not going to get greedy and play the moneyline and gladly take more than a field goal.

    FRIDAY GAME

pittsburgh +1 vs rutgers (stong play)..........has pitt really fallen this far? keep in mind that they were a top 25 team going into this season. now coach wannestadt is a moron, i will give you that. i think pitts season hinges on this game. they finally got a win, even though vs a division 1-aa school, but hopefully that will give them some confidence going into this one. i get tired of hearing the past couple of years how rutgers is improved and going to be good. it just does not seem to happen. pitt almost always plays well vs rutgers, so their confidence level should he high vs them. if pitt loses here, they are really in for a long season, you have to be able to win games like this. despite pitts idiot coach, they are the better team and will win at rutgers.

    SATURDAY GAMES

w virginia +10.5 vs virginia tech (best bet).......i am not sure why, but my gut tells me wvu will give them all they can handle. sure tech has been impressive, especially last week vs georgia tech, but i really doubt that they are that good. both teams are at 4-0 and we have a decent sized home dog here. morgantown can be a very tough place to play. people always seem to remember your last game. you are never as good, or as bad as your last game, that is how the saying goes. this one is going down to the wire. no way virginia tech wins by more that 10 at west virginia.

s florida +21 vs miami-florida (strong play)............this may be a suckers bet, but i don't care. s florida just took apart a very good louisville team last week and i don't this hurricane team is like usual miami teams. if s florida can do what they did last week, they can certainly stay within three td's of the hurricanes. surprisingly, i have seen a good many picks having miami crush them, that is good. i am glad not everybody is on s florida. sure miami could win this one by 40, but i doubt it.

notre dame +3 vs purdue (strong play)..........even though i cannot stand the irish, i have to give them credit. even though i see purdue getting their share of points on saturday, i just don't see them stopping notre dame on offense. i think the irish have a ton of talent that was just waiting to come out and the new coach is doing just that. this will be a shootout, that i know. notre dame wins 45-37.

wake forest +7 vs clemson (regular play).....i don't know why that i seem to be drawn to this wake forest team this year. clemson seems to like playing close games this year, so i doubt that if they get a blowout type of game that it will be on the road. clemson has always been much tougher at home than on the road. i think clemson wins the game, but wake gets the cash.

minnesota -2.5 vs penn state (regular play)............i am just not a believer that penn state is back to the old glory days. paterno has lost it. it is that simple. last week after scoring a touchdown and going up by 4 with just a few minutes to go, paterno kicks the extra point to go up by 5. why do you not go for two and have a six point lead? at least then you have a prayer of a missed xp if the other team comes back. being up by 4 or 5 makes not sense at all. paterno at a press conference afterwards defended his call saying the reporters don't know what they are talking about. now penn state plays a real team this week and also a solid loss. minnesota by 13 or more.

that is all for this week, don't see how i can do much worse than last week. i feel good about these picks this week. i don't know if i can get all 12.30 units back, but i know i will cut into them anyway. good luck everybody!!
