  • COWBOYS ARE SUPER BOWL FAVORITES?

Didn't watch the game Monday night since I usually spend Monday night going over College Football line movements, NFL highlights and post game news, and getting an early start on the upcoming weekend's games.........along with the fact that I've probably watched about 1 out of 4 games since Al Michaels and Johnny "Madman" Madden left for Sunday night.........I'm sorry but the ESPN announcers are pretty annoying...........but I did go over the highlights and stats for the game and I can't believe the Dallas Cowboys are actually favored to win the next Super Bowl.............Are the rest of the teams that bad?

I did some checking, and the Cowboys are currently a tepid choice right now at about 3-1..........After that, the rest of the leagues teams are all 7-1 or higher at most places.........that's some pretty good value..............I said during the pre-season on "Dinger's" thread that the Dallas defense still "had too many holes in it", and that they would have to win every game 42-35.............Well they won Monday 41-37, and this is probably a sign of things to come..............Not saying that they can't continue to win throughout the year like this, but I wouldn't count on it.

I usually wait until around Week 6 for these teams to start sorting themselves out and before "dabbling" a bit with the "futures", but all I can say for now is -- if you've got a bead or a read on your team at the moment, you can sure get some juicy odds for your investment if you indulge now.

    Aside to Jeff:
I remember seeing where you posted the Giants and Packers at high odds during the pre-season as they were receiving no respect from the betting public at the time, well -- someone got wind of this as they are now listed at 13-1 and 12-1 respectively.........about 1/2 of what they were originally listed at.............Good Luck to you.

LOL....well, maybe not 'that bad' but maybe 'that mediocre'. Philly basically gave them the game with some sloppy 4th Q play.

hey Boone - ok, we need some perspective here.....

TNewman was back in nickle situations only and playing his first game of the year and he is nowhere close to 100% - he would normally be starting opposite Pacman

Romo handed them 14 points in 14 seconds - lets say the game would have been a lot different if we take out Romo's implosion for that short stretch - they only allowed 7 points in the second half

Cowboys had pretty damn good pressure on McNabb but lets give the guy his props - he avoided several sure sacks, spinning away to make a completion downfield - lets give the Eagles their due...he did this time and time again

let's not crucify the D just yet...they got into a track meet in this particular game....this will not be the type of game they play every week...although on a side-rant, i will say that i prefer this as oppsed to watching Parcells trying to nurse a 13-10 lead for the entire second half of the game on the road - but i digress.....

but on the topic of superbowl odds....3.5 to 1 for Dallas does not give much value - i agree

i think the real value is Philadelphia at 16-1...if McNabb can stay healthy

Nice points Cowboyfan...........and like I said, maybe they can continue to just plain old outscore their opponents the rest of the way..........I was just pointing out that there wasn't any value here that's all..........You know I've always had a soft spot for your 'Boys and Romo and company, it's just that it seems be too wide open this year for any team to be as low as 3-1.........Good Luck to you and nice hearing from you.

good to see you're still here....lets make some money this year!!

speaking of....what do you think about your boys playnig in Buffalo this week??

i like the Bills but i think that 9.5 is a big number....but Buffalo could be the best team in that division at this point - they would definitely give the Pats a run for their money

situationally handicapping here....can Raiders play two good games back to back on the road?? i guess the win vs KC was a lot more McFadden and the D as opposed to Russell - his numbers were pretty bad - no??

i'm thinking that the Raiders could lay an egg here..what do you think??

              CBF2,

If I had any balls (to go along with my brains), I'd sling a bundle on the Bills this week -9 1/2 or whatever.........I say they kill the Raiders this week......but I've already broken one of my rules this season, and that was betting on a game involving my boys..........took a bath opening night on that thrashing by Denver.

The Raiders won last week only because Kansas City is even worse that we are.........They are now down to a 3rd string QB (Thigpen), and they are giving up more than 5 yards a carry against the rush..............But now, the Raiders are forced to go without starting RB Justin Fargas, and although D. Mc Fadden filled in admirably, and backup RB Michael Bush showed some flashy footwork against the Chiefs, things figure to be a whole lot different up in Buffalo............The Buffalo fans figure to be in a frenzy after starting the season 2-0, and winning on the road in Jacksonville last week..........They are currently sporting one of the more formidable defenses in the AFC, and tie in to the equation the fact that JaMarcus Russell (Raider QB) has had big problems finding open receivers (and they ARE open), and the uncertainty surrounding Head Coach Lane Kiffin, and this one has all of the earmarks of an ugly game for the Silver and Black.

I won't be betting on this one for two reasons: (1) I can't go heavy against my boys, and (2) The Raiders always seem to play their best right when I think they'll play their worst...............I hope I'm wrong, but I've got a feeling that my boys are in for a long afternoon in upstate New York.

              Good Luck to you.

How about the cardinals? sportsbook.com have them at 40-1.
The value here looks pretty good as this is probably their best chance of making the playoffs with the charger loosing their first 2 games.

Their toughest games (coyboys, giants, bills) are all at home. Their schedule may not get better than this.

Give any Cardinal future money to charity instead.

Panthers will represent ... After Minnesota spanks them today.
If they beat Minnesota the bandwagon will be officially 'open' for loading.

I live in NC but am far from a Panther fan.
