  • NCAA # 13 Illinois Basketball

13th ranked Illinois opens the season with a W over UC Irvine they are now 1-0 (and did not cover the spread of 21)

Let's take a look at this team, I have watched every game so far this year and can clearly see Talent. I can also see some disturbing repeating things from the Seniors.

This is a team that is upside down freaky in terms of talent, and what I mean by that is the freshmen and sophomore players are more talented than the Seniors. Because of this influx of Raw talent Coach Weber is forced to play them. And as we all know it takes a few games under your belt with some actual playing time to adjust.

This team is ranked to high at this point in the season, Turnovers, Free throws and
Rebounding is all suspect at this time. That has a lot to do with trying to find the right line up. Illinois looks to be a very streaky team, one minute blowing you out of the gym and the next letting you climb back in bed with them.

Lets take a look at the next few games coming up for Illinois:

Toledo + 29.5 at Illinois I don't believe Illinois is ready to beat anyone by 30 points yet.

SIU at Illinois Line will be about 24

Then on to NY to play # 5 Pitt or #25 Texas (Pitt barely put away a very good Rhode Island Team).

There is a ton of work that Coach Weber has in front of him to mold this talented bunch into a TEAM. Rivals today said today that Illinois has landed the top class for 2011 in the Big Ten coming in and also # 9 in the nation. The pipeline of talent is coming into Illinois in a powerful and steady stream.

Expectations are high on this current team but I feel they are to high at present time it's going to take some more floor burns for me to get confident.

    More to follow
