  • Thursday Night NFL - Eagles (4-7) at Seahawks (4-7)

    Current line
    PHI -3
    O/U 43.5

Two teams with equal records but the home team at the tough venue is the dog. Seattle is 2-3 SU and 3-2 ATS at home this year, 6-4-1 overall. They beat Baltimore pretty handily, leading 22-7 until nearly the 4th Q, and stayed within 2 of Atlanta. I was really surprised they didn't handle Washington last week but that was basically a 3 pt game with Seattle having a chance until late in the 4th.
Philadelphia is just 4-7 ATS this year with 3 of the covers vs division opponents, so against non-divisional foes they have just gone 1-6 SU and 1-6 ATS. The lone cover was at St Louis in the 1st game of the season. The Eagles don't travel west of Dallas very often and this will be just their 4th trip in the last 3 years, going 1-2 SU the last 3 trips. They lost to SD and OAK in '09 and won by just 3 against a 6-10 49er team last year.
Vince Young will be the QB again as Vick is out along with Jeremy Maclin. Nnamdi Asomugha may not be 100% after being limited last Sunday with a knee injury. The Eagles have had a very short time to prepare having played on Sunday and requiring an entire day to travel nearly 3000 miles. A stat I found says that the road team is 0-12 SU and ATS over the last 15 years when traveling at least 1,500 miles for a Thursday Night game after playing on Sunday the week before.
Seattle can play when they want to. They have already beat 8-3 Baltimore handily at home so there's no reason they can't handle the 4-7 Eagles who are playing without 2 of their top offensive play-makers, traveling 3000 miles and playing on a short week. In addition, Desean Jackson appears to be afraid to catch the ball in traffic...at least until he signs a new contract but probably not even then.
Actually I think that Seattle will win SU tonight.
    Prediction
    Seattle 23
    Philadelphia 20

As a fellow Bettorsworld compadre would say...."winner, winner, chicken dinner!" I had Sea +10 and OV 36.5, Sea +10 and UN 50.5, Sea +3 and Sea +3 2nd H. Overall a pretty decent night.

Must add that to the database. Great catch & play!

My system calculates distance traveled and if back to back home or road games as jet lag (I believe) can effect a team.

I also had the Seahawks in the mock hilton as I had Sea -.5 in my system. The wrong team was favored (hindsight).

            I don't think 3000 miles.
