  • Anyone interested in THE REAL HILTON SUPERCONTEST??

Looking for people who are interested...looking for 4 cappers to compete with me the cost would be $300 plus probably a proxy fee...here is the email response they wrote me...

"Thanks for the interest. As a proxy, we charge $300 plus 2% of potential winnings and the entry fee is $1,500. You just need to sign up for the contest in person sometime between July 9 and September 8 and then you can email us the picks every week to put in. We email the lines to you every Wednesday and then you just email us back with your picks on Friday, it's that simple. You would meet us when you sign up because we need to be present so you can assign us as your proxy. You'll know it's done every week because your picks are posted online. We served as a proxy for more than 100 entries last year, and one of our contestants finished in the Top 10 of the SuperContest for the third year in a row while another one of our contestants also won the Cantor Gaming Football Contest, which cost $10k to enter. We run a very professional business and consider customer service to be the most important part. We offer a $50 max weekly refund for any picks missed but have yet to issue one in the past seven years."

So we would need the proxy fee and one of us would have to be there to sign us up..

    ANYONE INTERESTED??
People who have shown interest are Dragon, Dinger, and Krinchinsky

I'm interested. We would need some kind of plan to cover picks. Date/Time to pick. Star system / or pick one game.
    Taxes.

Maybe we can have our won contest within a contest.
    10% x 5 people = 50%
    1st: 20%
    2nd: 15%
    3rd: 10%
    4th: 5%
5th: 0% (May have held back the team)
    (If we cash)

    Just some quick thoughts.

**reposting this from the other thread**
my buddy is out (he's unemployed now it seems).
So I'd do the 5 man team or whatever.
I know there's no pm here so maybe jeff probably has our emails and could maybe get us in contact.

contest within a contest sounds like fun too.

As much as I like the team concept based on cost sharing to get into a contest, it does has it drawbacks. One of those drawbacks are loss of originality in your picks as they become a vote amongst the team who shall we play?

Never easy to accomplish winning as a team in betting football, I do wish you all the best

The best way to do this is 5 guys with 1 pick per man first come first serve.....no communicating between the 5 players on the picks.

            I would like to participate!

Please keep me in mind! I could possibly pick up an additional share if you are short.

No disrespect at all, but you have to start from the point that other
sharps, as good as our posters here, have mapped out a plan that puts
them in play each week. I don't think there can be any competition
within a group and still have a positive outcome. The real issue, as
our Marine Corps friend points out, is how to make the best choices and
not compromise each team member's strenghts.

If the team makes one pick each, the $300.00 that is put into the pot
can only be seen as a sign of trust for the other guys in the group.
              There can't be any animosity.

I think there would be more success with a Consensus approach.

                Something like Dinger's suggestion:

Each week each player picks 5 games
                5*
                4*
                3*
                2*
                1*
5 Teams with most stars are the weeks picks.

There would be less chance of one or two guys being the goat(s) of the group if they had a bad year picking one per week.

I am not a fan of the competition amongst ourselves...That would also be impossible if we do a consensus approach...I am more of a fan for each member picking one game...But I would be fine with either one...I think communicating would be fine cause I would like to know why my team member is making the pick and what not...I would just like to know that my favorite play is going to be used and not my 3rd or 4th favorite...idk like I said I could go either way really.....

One big thing we have to figure out is that we will need one of us to be present in Vegas to sign us up and if we dnt have one of us to do that then this will never happen lol

I will be in Vegas next Tuesday afternoon through Thursday late morning (8/14-8/16), unless someone else would like to sign up the group.

Plus, what would the team name be?

                      Contest

Betorsworld sponsored a team for a two years a while back. I got my own personal proxy in Vegas who was also part of the team.

What I learned from being in the contest with a group of guys is that it is a LOT harder to pic winners before the Fri deadline than it is a few hours before kickoff on Sundays.

I tend to look at the games early on anyhow so the deadline isn't as hard on my end. Obviously it has the same drawbacks built into the hilton contest where things may happen at the very end of the week or news waiting to break like questionable players but everyone has to deal with that.

I like widestrides idea but would also be willing to do the one pick. The thing about widestride's is that it takes into account if people pick opposed picks. It could be bad if week 1 we submit a denver and a pitt pick. Then what do we do. But with widestride's method it's possible one of those 2 teams could be the #2 of another and that would be the tie breaker.
Heck, we could simplify and submit our top 3 picks which would give more weight to our #1's.

Contest within a contest you're right wouldn't work well. It did sound a little fun but yeah it's not the best idea.

I do like the idea of talking within the team. It may help us work out our picks if we are on the fence. Plus the more you know right?

I'll go into this with whatever the group decides (best pick, rank our picks) cause it sounds like fun and I'll state now that we win or lose or do average or whatever our end result as a team. No scape goats, no pointing fingers.

                            Agreed!

                            It is a partnership.

Since we do not play in the game, we cannot control the outcome, it's up the Gambling Gods!

We can go as a partnership, I just like to compete.

If someone goes 17-0 and another goes 7-9 and we make the money and now it's an even split...OK I guess.

Maybe we can get together on a group chat to make our picks on Wednesday. If someone can't make the chat, send in your top 5 picks. We analyze as a group and pull the trigger.
